CBSE extends deadline for private schools to update key information on website

While the Sport Ministry send its proposal to the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, the HRD Ministry responded to Sport Ministry citing most of the schools falls under the jurisdiction of state government and it is for the later to decide the policy decision. As per the latest development, the government’s effort to make sports a compulsory subject in schools was brought before Parliament’s notice. The parliament was told that students would have to secure a prescribed mark for promotion in this subject.


DAVV University organize 51st convocation after two-year delay

The university once again boasted more number of girls winning medals. While 204 girls won a medal, there are only 68 boys on the medal tally. After a long halt of two and a half years, the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV), Indore, will finally organize its 51st annual convocation on December 1.Multiple hundreds of students from the 2013 -13 and 2013-14 batches would be awarded with their respective achievement at the convocation ceremony. It is speculated that the cancellation of convocation consecutively was due to the poor health condition of the then chancellor, Ram Naresh Yadav, among other reasons, as reported by HT.


Schools need to have play-fields, physical education instructor: Government

“As part of this policy, the government has made access to play-fields and engagement of physical education instructor a mandatory requirement for all schools under the Right to Education Act,” said Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel. Under the Right to Education Act, the schools should have playfields, physical education instructor, government told the Lok Sabha today. The minister said the CBSE places special importance on co-scholastic areas which includes sports and physical fitness and it is expected that the state education boards would also emulate the CBSE example in due course.


57 BEd colleges in Indore protest DAVV move to conduct pre-affiliation inspection

The 57 affiliated colleges said they would close their institutes until the pre-affiliation move was cancelled in due time. As many as 57 B.Ed colleges affiliated under the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidhyalaya (DAVV), Indore, has collectively decided to remain closed for an indefinite period of time when the former decided to launch a pre-affiliation inspection in these colleges manually. The 57 affiliated colleges on Wednesday, in a protest, said they would close their institutes until the pre-affiliation move was cancelled in due time.The decision to unanimously shut the institutions came following the meeting with the university Vice Chancellor Narendra Kumar Dhakkad on Wednesday when no positive results were developed. The university remains adamant despite ardent protest from the colleges.
