NIPER – National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Joint Entrance Exam 2018 Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Eligibility Criteria

NIPER Test 2018 is an exam conducted by National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research. This is a Joint Entrance Examination for getting admissions to doctoral and master level courses in the field of pharmacy.

It is a national level examination. Courses like M. Pharm, M.S.(Pharm.), M.Tech.(Pharm.), MBA (Pharm.) and Ph.D. courses (Pharmaceutical and Biological Sciences disciplines) are open for admission through NIPER JEE.

NIPER JEE is an offline mode exam with 200 questions (MCQ based) to be solved within 2 hours. The paper is available in English language only.

NIPER JEE Syllabus

The NIPER JEE is basically based upon Chemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical analysis. These are the core topics from which questions are asked. There is no approved syllabus for NIPER test. There are topics which the candidates must prepare for before appearing for the NIPER test. They are :

  • Natural Products
  • Stereochemistry
  • Pharmaceutical analysis
  • Biotechnology and biochemistry
  • Gene expression
  • Cloning
  • Chemistry
  • Aptitude
  • Pharmacology
  • Phytochemistry

There are various books from which the candidates can prepare for the examination. Book on organic chemistry by Bahl and Bahl or by Morrison Boyd, book on Biochemistry and Biotechnology by U.Satyanarayana, book on Elementary Organic Spectroscopy by YR Sharma can be used for references.

NIPER JEE Exam Pattern Details

NIPER JEE is an offline mode exam which consists of 200 questions which are to be solved in two hours. These questions are multiple choice questions and the candidates have to select any one option from the given 4 by darkening the circle of that option. For darkening the circles the candidates should use HB pencils only. The language of the paper is english.

Each correct answer rewards the candidate with 1 mark and each incorrect response leads to the deduction of 0.25 marks. The NIPER exam is equivalent to the GATE.

There will be a common paper for all Masters Programs including M.B.A (Pharm). Subjects like Pharmacognosy or forensic pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence) are easier as compared to GPAT.

Eligibility Criteria for NIPER JEE Exam

Aspirants seeking admissions to the courses offered by NIPER need to fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below:

  • Candidate must be holding a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in respective discipline according to the course for which they want to apply.
  • They must have at least secured 60% or 6.75 GPA (55 percent or 6.25 for SC /ST candidates and 50 percent or 5.75 GPA for PH candidates) aggregate marks in the qualifying exam.
  • They should also have a valid GATE or NET or GPAT score.

NIPER JEE 2018 Important Instructions

These are the following instructions that the candidates must follow for NIPER JEE 2018

  • You should bring your own HB pencil
    You should darken the circle properly in ORS sheet.
  • Candidates must make sure there are no Half or partially darkened circles as they will not be considered for evaluation.
  • Candidates must write down their own registration number clearly on the first sheet.
  • No other stray marks should be made on the ORS sheets.
  • The duly filled application form needs to be sent to the institute.
  • All the answers must be marked as per directions specified in the ORS sheet.
  • The circles need to be darkened only using HB pencil.
