Indian Coast Guard General Duty Exam Pattern

 There will be about 3 phases in the selection procedure of an Indian Coast Guard General Duty and the very first will be written exam. The written exam will contain objective type questions and will have the following

  1. Shortlisting will be based on the highest percentage of marks of a particular examination center.
  2. If a lot of candidates have a high percentage, the qualifying percentage may be increased.
  3. The candidates who qualify the written test will then go for a Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and a Medical Test.

Physical Fitness Test for Indian Coast Guard Exam:

 After qualifying the written test, the PFT is conducted. The selected candidates are required to bring their sports attire. The process of the Physical Fitness Test has the following parts –

  1. A 1.6 km run that has to be completed within 7 minutes.
  2. 20 Squat ups (Uthak Baithak) have to be completed.
  3. And 10 Push-ups are to be done.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Coast Guard Exam:

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidate must be a 10+2 Graduate, passed with at least 50% marks aggregate in total and minimum 50% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics from an education board that is recognized by the Central/State Government of India.
  • SC / ST – 5% relaxation
  • 5% relaxation will be given to outstanding sportsmen of national level who obtained 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in any field sport event at any open or state level national championship or interstate national championship.
  • 5% relaxation will also be given to the wards of the deceased uniform personnel (death at the time of service) of the Indian Coast Guard.

Age:

General:

Minimum – 18 Years

Maximum – 22 Years

Upper age relaxation SC / ST candidates and OBC of 5 Years.

Upper age relaxation for OBC candidates of 3 Years.

The Medical Test Criteria:

  • Height: Candidate must have a minimum height of 157 cms. Reduction in height from hilly or tribal areas will be done on the basis of the orders given by the Central Government.
  • Chest should be well proportioned with a minimum expansion of 5 cms.
  • Weight must be proportionate to height and age ±10% is acceptable.
  • Hearing must be normal.
  • Visual standards – 6/6 (Better Eye) & 6/9 (Worse Eye).
  • Candidates wearing glasses are not eligible.
  • Permanent body tattoos are not acceptable on any part of the body except for candidates belonging to tribal communities.
  • Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned of wax and tartar removed from the teeth before the examination.
  • This exam will only be a provision for selection for the final medical examination.

Final Medical Examination:

The final medical examination of the shortlisted candidates will be done at INS Chilka Candidates deemed unfit will not be enrolled in the program. After the selection process, there will be a training period during which if a selected personnel has an unsatisfactory performance – he can be discharged.
