John Papuchis: Children And Married Life With Wife Billie Papuchis, Family Details Explored!

On December 24, 2019, John Papuchis was named special teams coordinator and defensive ends coach at Florida State.

In 2021, Papuchis coached first-team All-American and ACC Defensive Player of the Year Jermaine Johnson II and third-team all-conference defensive end Keir Thomas.

Johnson had one of the strongest seasons in recent memory, leading the ACC with 12.0 sacks and 18.0 tackles for loss, both of which were the most significant totals for an FSU defender since 2016, and leading all defensive linemen nationwide with 70 tackles.

Following a strong senior season, Johnson was selected 26th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets, marking the 11th consecutive year that at least one player coached by Papuchis was selected.

Papuchis has produced 15 NFL Draft picks in his career, while his players have earned 46 all-conference honors.

Billie Papuchis, John Papuchis’ wife, is an entrepreneur and the founder of The 7 Hearts Project.

It is a charitable organization dedicated to encouraging compassion and serving the community.

The non-profit 7 Hearts collects donations on their websites, which is then distributed to the destined society, local food banks, and other social sectors. They assist in the promotion and marketing of local food distributors, as well as the organization of sales-boosting events.

On Billie’s 40th birthday in September 2021, the charity will unveil its website, where visitors may learn about and keep track of forthcoming events, as well as donate directly with the click of a button.

John Papuchis: Biography

John Papuchis was born in the Maryland town of Gaithersburg.

He graduated from Quince Orchard High School in 1996, where he was a three-sport player who earned All-Montgomery County honors as a junior and senior on the Varsity baseball team.

He was also the starting quarterback for the QO football team his final year. John accompanied Kelly Robertson to prom, and they were chosen the cutest senior pair.

Papuchis earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Virginia Tech in 2001, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Kansas in 2003.

John Papuchis: How Many Children Does He Have?

John and Billie have raised three daughters, Addy, Sophia, and Rylee, as well as two boys, Jack and John.

Addy is the oldest of five children. Addy has been involved in various philanthropic initiatives since she was a child, inspired by her mother Billie. In March of this year, she became 14 years old. Billie wished her a happy birthday on Instagram.

She took Addy to see Garth Brooks, and the two ladies had a great time dancing to the music. Addy participates in athletics as well, as she plays basketball for Holy Comforter Episcopal School. She is using her Instagram account to raise money for the 2023 Dance Marathon.

Similarly, Jack is the household’s youngest Papuchis. This year, his third birthday was celebrated on July 3 by his family. The oldest and youngest members are twelve years apart in age.

But they all contribute equally to the project seven hearts and keep John and Billie afloat. They like assisting their parents at many charity events throughout the year, as well as with food preparation and packaging.

Their favorite holidays are Halloween and Christmas. They all dress up like characters from their favorite movies. Trick-or-treating is one of the most common Halloween traditions.

The younger children, Jack, Sophie, and Rylee, walk door to door in their neighborhoods, knocking and saying “trick or treat” to request treats.

John Papuchis: Coaching Career Details

  • While still in college, Papuchis began coaching at the high school level. Papuchis worked at Blacksburg High School while attending Virginia Tech, where he also coached the junior varsity basketball team.
  • Following his graduation from Virginia Tech in 2001, Papuchis began his college coaching career as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Kansas under Head Coach Terry Allen, working with the Kansas Jayhawks defensive unit while pursuing his master’s degree.
  • In his final year at Kansas, he led the Jayhawks win the 2003 Tangerine Bowl, ending Kansas’ seven-year bowl drought.
  • Papuchis obtained a similar position as a Defensive Intern and Graduate Assistant under Head Coach Nick Saban at Louisiana State University in 2004, with additional duties teaching the punters.
  • Bo Pelini joined LSU as Defensive Coordinator the next year, when Les Miles took over for the departed Nick Saban.
  • LSU’s defense was instrumental in the Tigers winning the 2008 BCS National Championship Game in 2007. Overall, Pelini’s tenure at LSU resulted in the Tigers’ defense ranking third nationally from 2005 to 2007.

  • Pelini was named as the new Head Coach of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football team just before LSU’s 2007 season national championship.
  • Pelini stayed at LSU through the championship game with the permission of Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne, and then brought several of his defensive staff members, including Papuchis, with him to Nebraska.
  • In 2012, Papuchis will begin his fifth season on Bo Pelini’s Nebraska staff, and his first as the Huskers’ defensive coordinator.
  • Papuchis was promoted to his current position in December, prior to Nebraska’s Capital One Bowl game against South Carolina.
  • Papuchis tutored the defensive line and served as special teams coordinator throughout his first four years on staff, and he also served as recruiting coordinator in 2011.
  • Papuchis was one of four contenders for the FootballScoop Special Teams Coordinator of the Year Award in his third season at Nebraska in 2010, and he continued to play a significant part in a powerful defensive line.
  • His defensive ends combined for 127 tackles, 33 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks in 2009. Barry Turner earned an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection in 2009, with 16 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks, while Allen had five sacks and 12 tackles for loss.

  • Papuchis watched starting defensive ends Zach Potter and Allen combine for 26 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks in his first year in Lincoln, with Potter receiving honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors. The defensive ends aided a Nebraska unit that finished second in total defense in the Big 12.
  • Under Papuchis, Nebraska has also had one of the best special teams groups in the country the last three seasons.
  • In 2009, the Huskers’ kickoff and punt return units were both ranked in the top 30 nationally, while All-Big 12 punter and place-kicker Alex Henery set a NU record with 24 field goals while also putting 30 punts within the opponent’s 20-yard line.

  • On February 2, 2015, it was revealed that Papuchis has accepted a position as linebacker coach at the University of North Carolina. Following the resignation of Gene Chizik on February 9, 2017, he was named defensive coordinator. He was sacked on the same day as Larry Fedora, November 25, 2018.
  • Papuchis was hired as the Maryland Terrapins’ special teams coordinator and inside linebackers coach in January 2019.
