Why Does Rick Not Want to Fix the Rift?

Rick and Morty discover the master scheme of Evil Morty, also known as President Morty, in the last episode of the fifth season of the animated series, which is named “Rickmurai Jack.” The Morty variation is able to successfully escape beyond the Central Finite Curve after destroying the Citadel of Ricks. The Central Finite Curve serves to differentiate between all of the worlds, including the one in which Rick is the smartest person alive, and the other universes. The Central Finite Curve serves as the inspiration for both Rick’s portal pistol and portal traveling technology. As a direct consequence of this, Rick’s portal rifle will become ineffective after President Morty destroys the Central Finite Curve. Throughout addition to this, it causes a number of rifts to appear in the multiverse.

In the first episode of the sixth season, titled “Solaricks,” Rick is seen attempting to fix the portal traveling mechanism, but he is unsuccessful. His acts transport all variations back to the dimension in which they first appeared. In the end, Rick is able to bring his family back together, and he makes a vow to mend the multiverse. However, as of the sixth episode, he has not finished repairing all of the rifts that exist throughout the multiverse. There is still one gap that has not been closed, and it appears that Rick is contemplating isolating himself from the multiverse. Killer Rick is brought back to his own realm as a direct result of Rick’s error while he was working on the portal traveling technology. Rick C-137’s family was murdered by a version of Rick. Rick was responsible for their deaths. As a result, it is likely that Rick holds his connection to the universe responsible for the deaths of his family. As a consequence of this, it is possible that he will be hesitant to repair the tear in the multiverse. By not healing the rift, Rick may also be hoping to prevent himself from getting into another fight with Killer Rick.

Does Rick Fix the Portal Gun?

The gap in the multiverse is repaired as a result of Rick’s meeting with an extraterrestrial species of sentient dinosaurs in the sixth episode of season 6, which is named “Juricksic Mort.” As a form of retaliation against Rick, the dinosaurs patch up the rift. On the other side, Rick does not have a particularly strong interest in finding a solution to the problem. Nevertheless, by the time the episode is over, he has fixed the portal gun. In this week’s episode, Rick is making incremental strides toward repairing the portal cannon, despite the fact that his mental health problems are undoubtedly taking a toll on him. In addition, he claims that a lack of drive and the flow of innovative ideas is the reason why the assignment was not finished. As a direct consequence of this, the portal gun is left in an unfinished state throughout the most of the episode.

Rick, on the other hand, finds the drive to fix the portal cannon after the problems with the dinosaurs have been resolved. At the very end, Rick demonstrates to Morty the updated and improved version of the gun. While Rick and his grandson are in the process of making preparations to go to “Boob World,” Rick can’t help but become excited about the prospect of having even more great dimension-hopping experiences with his grandson. Because of this, by the time the episode is out, Rick has fixed the portal gun, and he and Morty are once again free to go to different dimensions full of fascinating new experiences. However, this also implies that the Smith family will face additional challenges and threats in the remaining episodes of the sixth season.

More information

  • The ‘Final DeSmithation’ title is a reference to the long-running, fate-driven horror series Final Destination.
  • For the benefit of anyone born after the mid-’80s, Taxi was a sitcom about a group of New York cab drivers that ran from 1978-1983. It’s famous for kickstarting the careers of Andy Kaufman, Danny DeVito, and Christopher Lloyd.
  • When Jerry tells Beth that Sleepy Gary ruined his gag reflex, he’s referencing a fictional lover created by an alien parasite in brilliant season 2 episode ‘Total Rickall’.
  • Over Beth’s shoulder we get a brief sighting of a picture of Snuffles, the family dog granted intelligence by one of Rick’s inventions in season one episode ‘Lawnmower Dog’. Snuffles subsequently left Earth to find more super-intelligent pooches.
  • Rick calls on the Eye of Thundera to help him change into a smart suit. The Eye of Thundera sits in the hilt of Lion-O’s Sword of Omens in ThunderCats.

About Movie

  • Jerry’s effects-heavy costume change is based on Japanese manga/anime Sailor Moon, the story of a schoolgirl who transforms into the eponymous hero via a characteristic, budget-saving animated sequence.
  • As well as being the company that controls fate in Rick and Morty, the Fortune 500 is also Fortune magazine’s list of the 500 biggest companies in the US.
  • Jerry’s mom previously appeared in season one episode ‘Anatomy Park’.
  • Rick mentions that Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, prime ministers, and Billy Zane are all present at the Fortune 500 CEO’s presentation. Billy Zane clearly operates in high-power circles – he was also present at Derek and Hansel’s walk-off in Zoolander.
  • The fate-pooping creature looks like a giant tardigrade. The first season of Star Trek: Discovery also featured a giant tardigrade, powering the ship’s prototype spore drive.
  • When the creature’s keeper – the one who wants to marry the beast – mentions Margaret Howe and a dolphin, he’s referencing a scientist who took part in a controversial Nasa-sponsored experiment in the 1960s.
  • When the family visit the zoo in the post-credits sequence, Morty is disappointed to discover that the humans are the zoo exhibits. As his reaction suggests, this is a rather overused trope in sci-fi, most notably used in The Twilight Zone episode ‘People are Alike all Over’.
