But all such practices have been banned by the directorate of education. To be eligible the only thing that will make a difference is the availability of a valid residential proof of Delhi.
This proof of residential address for the general category can be ration card, domicile certificate of child and parent, voter I card of any parent, electricity bill / portable / passport of any parent, and Aadhar card.
In case of proof for EWS/DG category following can be accepted as proof of Residential address – ration card, domicile certificate, voter ID, utility bill, unique Identity Card, and passport in the name of any parent.
Eligibility of Child for the Admission in Nursery
A strict policy has been formulated by the directorate of education India for Admission criteria for child age and relaxation is not given even for a single day. The Delhi School Nursery Admission child age criteria were formulated by the government to stop discrimination and difference of different age groups.
Note – for Admission in any category the ages calculated as on 31st March of the year in which Admission is sought.
- For Nursery/Pre-School: Between 3Yrs-4Yrs
- For KG/Pre-Primary: Between 4Yrs-5Yrs
- For Class 1: Between 5Yrs-6Yrs
The DOE provides relaxation of one year in the Upper Age limit for Children with Special Needs/Disabled Children Category.
The mentally challenged applicants can further have a relaxation in the upper age limit post-approval by the Principal on submission of the requisite documents. See below:

Physically Challenged –> Less than 5 years as on 31 March of the year in which the Admission is sought
Mentally Challenged –> Less than 5 years as on 31 March of the year in which the Admission is sought which can be further relaxed only by the Principal/HOS subject on submission of the requisite documents.
- For KG/Pre-Primary:
Physically Challenged –> Less than 6 years as on 31 March of the year in which the Admission is sought

- Class 1:

“Only Rs 25 (non-refundable) can be charged from the parents as admission registration fee. The purchase of prospectus of the school by the parents shall be optional,” the DoE circular said.
