1. Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology

Formerly known as the Delhi Institute of Technology, the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT) is a top Computer Science and Engineering Colleges in Delhi/NCR. This engineering college is located in Dwarka, New Delhi, India and was established in 1983. NSIT is an autonomous institution of the Government of Delhi. After the change of Delhi College of Engineering into Delhi Technological University, NSIT is the only engineering college under the University of Delhi.

Campus

2. Delhi Technological University

DTU or Delhi Technological University is formerly known as Delhi College of Engineering. This is an engineering university located in New Delhi, India. The oldest college of Engineering and Delhi first engineering college is the DTU. It was established in 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic and was under the control of the Government of India. Renaming of college to Delhi Technological University and upgraded to a state university in July 2009 from Delhi College of Engineering.

A controversy took place with the students boycotting the mid-semester exams and demanding reconsideration of the change and replacement of the VC. The move from Delhi College of Engineering to DTU was met with student protests over the erosion of the DCE brand which culminated in a face-off in March 2010. Though, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit informed the students that the change will not be reconsidered. And by the end of March, the protest dwindled down, with the students taking their exams.

It was until 1989 that Delhi Technological University (Delhi College of Engineering) operated from the Kashmiri Gate campus in the heart of Old Delhi. The operation was moved from Kashmiri Gate to the new 164 acres campus at Bawana Road began in 1995, and the new campus formally started classes for all four years of study starting 1999.

The new lush green campus is well connected by road. Facilities include a library, a computer center, a sports complex, eight boys’ hostels, six girls’ hostels, and a married couples’ hostel. The campus has residential facilities for faculty and staff. The campus has an auditorium and an open-air theater. An additional campus of DTU is in Vivek Vihar, East Delhi offering non-engineering courses. Currently, the east campus of DTU offers courses in MBA, BBA, and BA in Economics.

Academics

The courses offered at Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech), Master of Technology (M.Tech), Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A) with contains fourteen academic departments with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological education and research. First, for a full-time Bachelor of Engineering degree in DTU admission is through the Joint Admission Counselling Delhi (JAC-Delhi). This is done together with Indira Gandhi Delhi Technological University for Women, Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology. Foreign students are admitted through Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme. They also have lateral entry admission and evening studies programme.

Second, the admission towards a postgraduate degree is based on performance in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) qualifying exam. Nevertheless, if two or more candidates have the same GATE score, the percentage in qualifying undergraduate course shall decide the merit. No separate test or interview is conducted by the university. However, for the NRIs, Foreign Nationals and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) the admission is made on the basis of merit/score in Graduate Record Examination (GRE). The medium of instruction for all the courses at the university is English. Third, the admissions in MBA program are based on Common Admission Test (CAT) exam, followed by a group discussion and an interview

3. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (abbreviated IIT Delhi or IITD) is a public engineering institution located in Hauz Khas, Delhi, India. The college was established in 1961, with a vision to contribute to India and the world through excellence in scientific and technical education and research. Also, to serve as a valuable resource for industry and society and to remain a source of pride for all Indians. It was formally inaugurated August 1961 by Prof. Humayun Kabir, Minister of Scientific Research & Cultural Affairs.The First admissions were made in 1961.

Academics

IIT Delhi offers various degree programs. Namely, the Bachelor of Technology programs as well as dual degree B.Tech-cum-M.Tech programs. The admission to these programs is done through Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced. Second is the postgraduate programs awarding M.Tech (by coursework), M.S. (by research), M.Sc., M. Des., MBA under various departments and centers. The admission to M.Tech and M.Des programs are carried out mainly based on Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Student Activity Center
The Student Activity Center or SAC is a part of the Student Recreation Zone in IIT Delhi. The SAC is for the extracurricular activities of the students. The SAC consists of a gymnasium, swimming pool, pool and billiards rooms, squash courts, table tennis rooms, a badminton court, a music room, a fine arts room, a robotics room and a committee room used to organize quizzing and debating events. The SAC also has an Open Air Theatre where concerts are hosted. Students can use the radio broadcasting facility (HAM) in the SAC although its use has declined over the years.

There are a number of student bodies in IIT Delhi, each with its own set of responsibilities. The highest student body in IIT Delhi is the Student Affairs Council (SAC). All the other student boards are included in the SAC, as listed below:

Board for Student Welfare(BSW)
As the name suggests BSW works for the welfare of all the students of IITD.The BSW shall organize welfare activities from time to time and look into other aspects of student welfare. The BSW shall provide financial aid to the needy students as per the decision rules. BSW has the responsibility of organizing Speranza, the annual youth festival of IIT Delhi.

Board for Recreational and Creative Activities (BRCA)
Under new structure, the BRCA consists of 9 clubs: Literary Club, Debating Society (DebSoc), Dramatics Club, Dance Club, Music Club, Photography and Films Club (PFC), Indoor Sports Club (ISC), Quizzing Club (QC), the Fine Arts and Crafts Club (FACC), in addition to the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth SPIC MACAY Delhi. Each club has a hostel representative working under the aegis of the hostel cultural secretary. The BRCA has the responsibility of organising the annual cultural festival of IIT Delhi, called Rendezvous.

Board for Student Publications (BSP)
BSP is the student-managed board responsible for all journalistic and creative publications at IIT Delhi, bringing out 4 magazines, the Inception, the Muse, Sync I and Sync II; and 4 newsletters, the Inquirer, annually. The BSP also conducts the IIT Delhi’s annual Literary festival – Literati each September, hosting a plethora of events that include panel discussions, guest talks, poetry recitations and literature quizzes. The Board serves both as a creative outlet, and as a platform to voice student opinion, organizing numerous competitions and workshops throughout the year.

Board for Sports Activities (BSA)
BSA is the Sports Board of IIT Delhi. It provides facilities for many sports such as Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Lawn tennis, Squash, Table-Tennis, Volleyball, Weight Lifting. The Board Council consists of President, Vice-President, Sports Officer, Sports Administrators. Also, there are the posts of General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary, the candidates for which are elected from amongst the students by themselves. Besides this, there are 13 sports secretaries, one from each of the 13 hostels.

The Board monitors the sports domain of the institute. It is responsible for maintaining the sports grounds of different sports, conducting Inter Hostel sports competition, the participation of IIT Delhi in InterIIT Sports Meet (the annual sports event of all the IITs). Apart from this, BSA is also responsible for conducting Sportech, the annual Sports Festival of IIT Delhi.

The other student council is the Co-curricular and Academic Interaction Council (CAIC). which deals with the academic and co-curricular activities of the students. There are 45 student representatives to the CAIC: 22 from the UG students and 23 from the PG students, apart from 2 representatives from each co-curricular body. The co-curricular activities under the CAIC are:

Entrepreneurship Development Cell, IIT Delhi
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), IIT Delhi is a cell which aims to support and augment the efforts of budding entrepreneurs at the college level to get established as a successful and independent entrepreneur. eDC IIT Delhi wishes to inculcate and Enrich the entrepreneurial environment in India by creating an easily accessible and exhaustive set of resources for the entrepreneurs, which including the students, the budding professionals, mentors, angel investors and the venture capitalists through various fun-filled yet educating sessions such as Startup Showcases, competitions, eTalks and so on and so forth.

The Academic Complex has a total of 10 lecture halls including two lecture halls with a capacity to seat 180, one of capacity 160, two of capacity 60 and five of capacity 30. The Faculty and Research wing have a capacity of 50 faculty offices and 8 research labs, along with the Ph.D. rooms and M.Tech labs. The administrative office and finance department offices are within the Academic block, along with the Director’s Office, conference rooms, a boardroom, a formal seating and discussion area and faculty offices.

4. Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology

The Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, Delhi is a research best university with Computer Science and Electronics as it best subjects. It is an autonomous government university in Delhi. this is dead yet started with IPS batch of 60 students enrolled in B tech courses during the year 2008. The convocation for the first was that graduated in 2012 took place in November 2012.

In the meantime, there were around 30 faculty members in the college and the academic program at Indraprastha consisted of B.Tech., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programs in CSE and ECE. Not to mention that the then Chief Minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, inaugurated the campus in October 2012. As per the IIIT-Delhi Act, the college was created by the Government of Delhi in 2008.

There are various services provided in the campus for students like accommodation, library, Co-curricular activities and Clubs and group. There is accommodation provided to students wishing to reside in the hostels. At present.IIIT Delhi has two hostels, one for boys having 372 seats and another for girls having 164 seats. There is a common mess for boys and girls. The Dining and Recreation Centre houses the students’ mess, a cafeteria, a common room and facilities for extracurricular activities such as a music room, table tennis, and pool tables, and a gymnasium.
The Library and Information Center of the Institute is housed in a separate building and is automated with the help of RFID Technology with EM security. The library has a large collection of print and electronic media in areas including Computer Science, Electronics, and Communications, Mathematics and Statistics, Humanities and Sciences. Library offers services like a common study area for students and several labs are on the upper floors. There is also a reading room facility that is open 24 hours per day.

Co-curricular activities

Co-curricular activities are organized for students. There also a Dining Block and Student Center. The Dining and Recreation center of the institute contains a students’ mess, which is spread over two floors, a cafeteria and facilities for extra co-curricular activities, such as a music room and a gymnasium. The clubs and groups at the institute have many student clubs currently operating, including a programming club “Foobar” and a software development club “Byld”. Other clubs include MadToes, AudioBytes, Ink., Trivialis, LitSoc, Tasveer, Machaan, the Adventure Club, Community Work Club, Dance Club, Design Club, Literary Club, Music Club, Robotics Club, Sightseeing and Delhi Heritage (SADHA) Club, Sports Club, Quiz Club, E-Cell and Web Design and Development Club.

Student festivals

Student festivals have technical festivals like Esya, a two-day national level technical festival organized by the institute, with over a dozen innovative events. It was first held at the institute’s transit campus on 3–4 September 2011. Esya is now an integral part of IIIT-D’s annual event calendar. The cultural festival is called Odyssey. It is the institute’s cultural festival, which seeks to bring out new talent and showcase the diversity of different art forms. It was first held at the institute’s permanent campus on 31 January – 1 February 2014. The festival includes events in the fields of music, dance, theatre, literary and spoken arts, fine arts, digital arts, and quizzes.

5. Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology

This is the last government college located In New Delhi India, Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT). This is a public-private partnership engineering college that has 10 departments and is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. These departments are distributed as 5 for engineering, 4 for research, and 3 for the auxiliary. As this university is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. admission to all the courses is through Common Entrance Test (CET).
