Oscar Awards 2016
- The 88th Academy Awards (commonly referred as Oscars) ceremony took place on February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
- The Oscar awards were presented in twenty four categories. They are
Best Picture Spotlight - Best Actor Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant)

Aryabhatta Award
- Dr. Avinash Chander, former scientific advisor to the Defence Minister and ex-DRDO Chief received the prestigious Astronautical Society of India’s Aryabhatta Award on February 25, 2016 from Dr. R. Chidambaram, principal scientific advisor to government of India, and Dr. AS Kiran Kumar, Chairman ISRO, at ASI-ISRO Awards function held at Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad.
- The Aryabhatta Award is presented annually to an individual for outstanding lifetime contribution to the promotion of astronautics in India.
- The award consists of a citation and Rs 1 lakh in cash. It is named after the 5th century Indian astronomer and mathematician and also in commemoration of the first Indian satellite, Aryabhatta.
Global CSR Award
- GVK Blosciences has bagged the Global CSR Excellence & Leadership Awards on February 23, 2016 in the category of Best Environment Friendly Project for its ‘Go Green, Grow Green’ plantation drive.
- GVK Bio has obtained this recognition fdr its mega plantation drive conducted in July, 2015. Under the mega plantation drive, GVK BIO had planted over 1400 saplings of Pongamiapinnata, Peltophorumferrugunium and Azadirachtaindicain in its Nacharam and Mallapur campus.
- The global CSR awards are constituted by the World CSR Congress every year on the World CSR Day and arc presented to companies who believe in the value of sustainable corporate social responsibility.
58th Grammy Awards
- The 58th edition of annual Grammy Awards were held on February 15, 2016, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. It recognised best recordings, compositions and artists of the eligibility year, i.e., from, October 1, 2014, to September 30, 2015.
- Grammy Awards are the recording industry’s most prestigious award presented annually by National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) of the United . States to artists and technical professionals for their outstanding achievements in the music industry.
- Best album of the year is 1989 in which Taylor Swift did act.
- Best record of the year is Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars from the album Uptown Funk.
- Best song of the year is Thinking Out Loud sang by Ed Sheeran & Amy Wadge.
- Best new artist is Meghan Trainor.
- Children’s Album is Home in which Tim Kubart acted.
- Best Pop solo performance is awarded to Ed Sheeran in the album Thinking Out Loud.
- Best Pop Duo/Group Performance is given to Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars for the album Uptown Funk.
