Court rejects Tata subsidiary Appeal, give the permission for auction of Taj Mahal Hotel on Delhi’s Mansingh Road
The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed an appeal by Tata Group owned Indian Hotels Company Ltd, which challenged an earlier decision allowing the auction of the Taj Mahal Hotel it runs in the Capital’s Mansingh Road, ANI reported. The company said it will move the Supreme Court against the high court rulling. Indian Hotels had entered into an agreement, as the licensee, with the NDMC to construct the five-star hotel in December 1976.The original agreement expired in 2011, but the Tata group subsidiary has been running the hotel on extensions .The company had told the court that the deal was later modified into a joint venture, but the court had rejected the claim’s.
Series of strong earthquakes hit central Italy, quake measured 6.0 magnitudes: US Geological Survey
A quake measured at 6.0 magnitudes by the US Geological Survey about two hours after a first quake measuring 5.4 struck. Both were strong enough to be felt more than 150 km south in Rome, where lamps oscillate on the upper floors of building. There are no reports of any injury or causalities. The epicenters of both quakes were near the town of Castelsantangelo Sul Nera in the Marche region. First reports indicated that some old buildings collapsed but that the damage would not approach that caused by the major quake that struck the Marche ,Lazio and Umbria regions on August 24,which devasted several towns and killed nearly 300 people.
Bharti chairman Airtel’s chairman Sunil Mittal has been appointed as the chairman of mobile operators industry body GSMA for two years
Sunil Mittal will hold the chair at the organization from January 2017 to December 2018. GSMA represents about 800 mobile operators worldwide and over 300 companies in the broader telecom sector. Mittal was elected as the chairman while the industry body elected other new members on the board. In recent report, London-based GSMA said that India’s unique mobile subscribers will go up to one billion by 2020 from the 616 million users in June 2016. Mittal is the first Indian to be elected as the chair of GSMA.
Number of startups that have been funded this year has increased by 8%, overall funding has come down by 20-30%
Despite a funding slowdown this year compared to last year’s Bonanza as many as 1,400 startups have come up in the country this year, allowing India to maintain its position as the third largest startups base in the world with over 4,750 tech startups, ahead of countries such as China and Israel, the startup report released at the Nasscom Product Council on Wednesday.
