President Barack Obama Signs $618 Billion defiance Bill; Boosts Security Cooperation with India

US President Barack Obama has signed into law the $618 billion defence budget for 2017, which improves security cooperation with India and conditions nearly half of the funding to Pakistan on a certification that it is taking appraising steps against the Haqqani Network. Currently vacationing in Hawaii, Obama yesterday endorsed the National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA) 2017, which asks Defence Secretary and Secretary of State to take steps necessary to recognise India as America’s “major defence partner”.

Delhi air turns unclean again as pollution crosses ‘severe’ mark on Christmas

Christmas morning in Delhi was a foggy, cold affair this year, with air quality shocking to the ‘severe’ category of pollution. The 24-hour rolling average of PM10 and PM2.5 were recorded at 430 and 290µg/m3 on Sunday, according to the ministry of earth science’s System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). The acceptable levels of PM 2.5 and PM10 are 60 and 100 microgram per cubic metre.PM2.5 is particulate matter 2.5 micrometres or less in diameter. It is unsafe because it can enter the lungs and aggravate asthma or other respiratory conditions.

With a first day collection of Rs 29.78 crore, Dangal also has the second highest opening day accumulate of this year after Sultan. “Dangal opened to packed houses in Australia (USD 181K), making it the highest opening for any Hindi film ever in Australia.” Dangal has so far collected Rs 2.55 crore and Rs 4.41 crore in Australia and UK & Ireland respectively.
