India’s Most powerful Missile Agni 5 Successfully Tested

India on Monday successfully test-fired its nuclear-capable, inter-continental ballistic missile Agni 5, that has a range of over 5,000 km covering whole of China, from Abdul Kalam island off Odisha coast. Defence sources said that the successful test-firing will tile the way for user trial of the most powerful Indian missile and its eventual induction into the strategic forces command (SFC).The three-stage, solid dynamite surface-to-surface missile was test-fired from a mobile launcher from launch complex-4 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at about 1105 hours, DRDO sources said. About 17-metre long and weighing over 50 ton, the surface-to-surface missile majestically rose from the edge of its canister exactly and achieved all targets, sources in Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) said. It is the fourth developmental and second canisterised trial of the missile. While the first test was conducted on April 19, 2012, the second was on September 15, 2013 and the third on January 31, 2015 from the same base.


DY Patil stadium to get a new look for FIFA U-17 World Cup

The city-based D Y Patil Stadium, which is one of the venues for the FIFA U-17 World Cup to held in October next year in India, is set to have a new look for the mega football event.All the seats in the stadium, which has a capacity to accommodate 55,000 audience, will be changed in view of the World Cup.

“In view of the (FIFA U-17) World Cup, we are changing all our chairs in the stadium and the stadium will have a brand new look,” D Y Patil Sports Academy President Vijay Patil told PTI. The U-17 World Cup is scheduled to be held from October 6-28. Goa, New Delhi, Guwahati, Kochi and Kolkata are the other venues of the tournament. On October 20, a FIFA team had ratified the D Y Patil stadium as a venue for the tournament. “The existing facilities are also being clean-up and renovated for the World Cup. We have put in place new dressing rooms among other things,” Patil said.


Body of crashed Russian plane found in Black Sea: Agencies

Russian divers on Monday found the main body of the military plane that crashed in the Black Sea with 92 people onboard, an official told Russian news agencies.
“Divers… have found the fuselage of the plane that crashed yesterday in the Black Sea,” agencies quoted a member of the emergency ministry’s Sochi-based search and rescue team as saying.
