Kerala engineering colleges list:-

1. Cochin University College of Engineering, Kuttanad

Under the aegis, CUSAT Pulinkunnu Campus at Kuttanad was established in 1999. SItuated in the rice bowl of Kerala, it is in a serene and beautiful 42-acre campus in Pulincunnoo, Kuttanad. It is at the outskirts of  Pulincunnoo Panchayat, near the village of Kannady where college is situated. Students from states like Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Delhi enrol in CUSAT.

Admissions to CUSAT are based on Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the University which includes papers for admission to undergraduate courses. The College has got students from all over the country. The college has developed and has the capacity to grow beyond a mere Engineering College or a University Department.

There are various degree programs offered by the college. There are the B.Tech programs in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering,  Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. They also have a MCA program. Many of the faculty members have refined and sharpened their knowledge. They have been rigorous about research activities and published their findings in various national and international science and technical journals.

The six B.Tech awarded in  undergraduate programs is done in subjects like Electronics and Communication Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering,  Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Though, the college has faced problems with main transportation system and townships recently due to being in remote location. But this educational institution of this kind offers many technical and professional courses and admits students from all parts of the country.

But, one can notice that this is the best educational institutions that have groomed up in rural areas which are away from distractions and pollution which are part of urbanization. Kuttanad has been a place which is surrounded by many water bodies, like lakes and rivers and with limited land transportation network. It could not offer much to education including schooling, in the past.

Along with the eight academic divisions there are two units of National Service Scheme, Placement and Guidance cell, Arts Club, etc. All these clubs work for the benefit of the community in and around the campus. 2. College of Engineering, Trivandrum

CET is also known as the College of Engineering and is situated in Trivandrum. Notably, this is the first engineering college in Kerala, situated in Thiruvananthapuram which is the capital city of Kerala. In 1939, CET was founded in during the reign of the Travancore King, Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma. Also, during 2016, the college was ranked 28 in Top 100 Engineering Colleges in India

There is a ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) Student Chapter. This is  the largest technical society in the college with more than 80% of the student body as its members. This chapter has conducted numerous events since its formation and has helped its member’s scale heights of technical excellence. ‘Aavishkar’ in 2006 and 2009 have been the two National Level tech fests of CET. Also, ISTE CET is the best Indian Society for Technical Education student chapter in India.

There is also IEEE branch on the campus for students. IEEE activities in CET were initiated on 15 June 1983 as student branch under the Kerala section. It was revived in the year 2008. As of January 2012, CET IEEE Student Branch has around 100 student members. The Student Branch has a library. One affinity group called IEEE Women in Engineering is running under this Student Branch and two societies namely Computer society and Communication Society.

Along with IEEE, a SAE Student Chapter (SAE- the Society of Automotive Engineers) is founded on campus. This is a century-old society where great personalities like Thomas Alva Edison, Henry Ford and numerous other were members of. There is also a Institution of Engineering and Technology or IET club, a professional society for the engineering and technology community. IET club worldwide have more than 160,000 members in 127 countries and offices in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific. The chapter conducts various activities like  workshops, seminars and technical competitions.Innovation Challenge is an annual event hosted by the Chapter to ignite the Innovation passion among the engineering Students of Kerala.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) is a fully functioning student body registered under the Technology Business Incubator of the College of Engineering Trivandrum. The club provides a platform for students with ideas to convert them into business reality. The stated aim of EDC is to foster a student start-up culture in the institution. Club activities include seminars by world-renowned firms such as Blackberry, classes on the basics of the Stock Market, sponsorship activities, talks with prominent start-up ventures and trips to events all over India.

They also have NSS CET, National Service Scheme primarily stands for channelizing the student youth for building the nation. The youth of all ages has been in the vanguard of progress and social change.

Under the student activities, a variety of festivals take place on campus. Dhwani is the annual cultural festival of CET. It is known for its organization and activities. It is a four-day-long event held every year and attracts a crowd of 40,000 students and young people from across the country, making it one of the largest such fests in Kerala. Dhwani events include speaking, dancing, thespian, quizzing and word games, professional shows (nicknamed proshows) and workshops on music, fashion, art, and dance. Drishti is the annual technical festival of CET. It is known for its organization and activities. It is a three-day-long event held every year and attracts a crowd of 5,000 students and young people from across the country, making it one of the largest such fests in Kerala.

3. Thangal Kunju Musaliar (TKM) College of Engineering, Kollam

Thangal Kunju Musaliar College of Engineering (TKMCE), founded in 1958, is the first government aided engineering institution in the Indian state of Kerala. The college is located at Karikode, 6 kilometers (3.7 mi) from the city of Kollam in southern Kerala. The foundation stone was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the erstwhile President of India on 3rd February 1956.

The institution is affiliated with the University of Kerala and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. Admissions to the college are based on the Kerala Engineering Agricultural Medical (KEAM) Examination conducted by the Kerala state Commission of Entrance Examinations.It is widely regarded by many as the best engineering institute of the state and is the most sought-after destination for engineering aspirants across the state.

Among the The college has been ranked among the top by the National Institutional Ranking Framework governed by the MHRD. TKM has earned the unique honor of being the only Engineering college in the state under the government, aided and semi-government sector to be accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with an A grade. It is also the only engineering institution in the state of Kerala to be awarded the six-year accreditation status by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) Local chapter of the college has been honored as one of the top performing NPTEL chapters within the top 10 best performing institutes with AAA Rating. Careers360, promoted by the Outlook Group, ranked TKM as the second best institute among the top engineering colleges in Kerala with AAAA rating.It is an institution of National Importance and is currently being funded jointly by the Government of Kerala and the World Bank under the TEQIP program.

At Undergraduate level, admission to the college is based on the competitive Entrance Examination KEAM administered by the Government of Kerala, India. Some seats are reserved for students from Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman, and Lakshadweep. Whereas in case of Postgraduate level M.Tech.Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology, IITs.

MCA Kerala MCA Entrance Examination, conducted by the Office of the Commissioner of Entrance Exams run by the Government of Kerala.MBA Management Aptitude Test (MAT) conducted by the All India Management Association and CMAT conducted by AICTE. The college has a central library with over 70,350 books, around 100 technical journals, and periodicals. The library is open on all working days and Saturdays. The library system is computerized, and also has Internet facility. Apart from the central library, each department has its own library with specialized collections. One of earliest e-campuses in India, the entire campus including 14 hostels for boys and girls are linked into a WLAN.

4. Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Kottayam

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT) is an engineering college owned and operated by the Government of Kerala. Located 14 km from Kottayam, the institute was founded in 1991 by the Government of Kerala with a view of making it a center of postgraduate and research studies. It was named after Shri Rajiv Gandhi, Prime Minister of India.

The Institute offers three-year master’s degree in Computer Applications from 2001 onwards. The Department is currently functioning in the Electronics block. The Department has a well-equipped networked computer laboratory with latest computer systems and software packages, which enable the students to meet the challenges of the IT industry.

The Commissionerate of Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala is conducting Entrance Examinations for admission to MCA which is made through a Single Window System of the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP).

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology hosts National Conference on Recent Innovations in Technology (NCRIT) which aims at providing a common platform for professionals, academicians, researchers, and industrialists together to share their knowledge and ideas for achieving focused developments and advancements in engineering and management, through technical paper presentations and panel discussions. The topics for the conference are chosen based on the thrust areas of research in academia and in industry.NCRIT 2009 was held on March 28, 2009. NCRIT 2010 was held on 4 March 2010.

RIT in association with The Centre for Engineering Research and Development (CERD), Government of Kerala, is part of the organizing team of National Technological Congress (NATCON). The conference is designed to boost research activities in engineering colleges. It will also be a platform for talented academicians, students scientists to share their experiences and knowledge. The Student Organisations in the college are SAE, IEEE, Tinker Hub, ISTE, National Service Scheme (NSS) and SFI.

5. School of Engineering (SOE)

The School of Engineering is a college under Cochin University of Science and Technology, in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India. It was established in 1979 for offering part-time M.Tech programmes. The school was the first in the country to introduce Information Technology as an engineering stream. Also, it is one among very few colleges in the country with a B. Tech course in Safety and Fire Engineering. The school is a Research Centre and major Consultancy Centre. A number of research projects of national importance have been sanctioned to the school by agencies like DRDO, ISRO, DST, AICTE, UGC, Coir Board, and the Coconut Development Board.

B.Tech programmes are offered by School of Engineering, CUSAT. The School started offering part-time M.Tech. programmes in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering for practicing engineers in and around Cochin. It introduced B.Tech. Programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology in 1995. These turned out to be a milestone in the growth of the School. B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering was added in 1996 and Electrical & Electronics Engg. in 2003.

Having more than 2600 students, the School of Engineering is the largest academic constituent Department of the University. Admissions to SOE-CUSAT is based on an All India Entrance Examination known as Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the University which includes papers for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. CUSAT CAT will cover questions from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The CAT exam for the year will be conducted at several online test centers across India. The CAT Exam Pattern has announced the university to enable candidates with a better understanding of the test pattern, types of questions that may be asked, marking scheme and more. The School has got students from all over the country and abroad.

There are various annual festivals conducted in the college. Namely Dhishna, XPLENDOR, Vipanchika, and Sargam. Along with these, there are various student organizations. Dhishna is the annual techno-management fest of School of Engineering, CUSAT. It includes competitions, paper presentations, exhibitions, quizzes, model displays and robotics events. XPLENDOR was the annual tech-fest of the School of Engineering. Note: XPLENDOR was revamped and named DHISHNA from 2011. It encompasses a wide spectrum of activities and is managed entirely by students. Xplendor was usually organized in February. The first Xplendor was conducted in 2010, with 34 events including guest lectures, workshops, and musical night, and attracted 30 colleges from all over India.

Whereas, Vipanchika is the arts and cultural festival of the School Of Engineering. It is a three-day festival which encompasses various arts and cultural activities, which mainly differentiated as ON STAGE and OFF STAGE events. It is held in the winter semester. Sargam is the arts and cultural festival of the Cochin University of Science and Technology. It is a five-day festival comprising various arts and cultural activities, ON STAGE and OFF the STAGE events.

The Student Organisations include The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE). It is the world’s largest technical society. A student branch of the IEEE was established in the school in 1988. The IEEE student members receive all the technical and professional benefits of IEEE membership at subsidized rates. The branch is supervised by a Branch Counsellor who is a faculty member having an IEEE membership. The student branch organizes activities such as seminars and invited speeches by technical experts.
