- India’s first women fighter pilots (Bhawana Kanth, Avani Chatuvedi and Mohana Singh) were commissioned in the Indian Air Force on June 19, 2016.
- Avani Chaturvedi, Bhavana Kant and Mohana Singh will go to Bidar in Karnataka for a yearlong stage-III training on Hawk advanced jet trainers, before they get to fly supersonic waiplanes.
- This is the first time in the history of Indian military that women pilots have been commissioned.
