Weight Loss Journey Of Dan Miragliotta

Dan Miragliotta, a referee, lost weight after undergoing surgery in 2019. Miragliotta teaches Muay Thai at Middletown Martial Arts.

Dan, who is from New Jersey, is a UFC referee who has been a part of hundreds of events since 2007. He is well-known in the fighting scene due to his extensive MMA refereeing expertise. He is also well-known for his part in the 2015 action film Tracers.

Some people adore him, while others have dubbed him Dan ‘Bad Stop’ Miragliotta because fans believe he always ends fights at the worst possible time.

Another topic of discussion in the MMA community is his weight. Have you seen him? He had a big 295-pound presence that could stack even heavy-weight adversaries.

However, since having a treatment to decrease body fat in 2019, he has become skinnier. He may no longer have that hefty presence, but the procedure was carried out for his health.

Dan Miragliotta Weight Loss Started In 2019

Dan Miragliotta began dropping weight in February 2019 and became apparent in 2022.

He had to keep a strict diet and routine after undergoing quadruple bypass surgery owing to a heart attack, so the process did not happen by itself. His heart attack was caused by his excessive weight gain and poor eating habits.

This prompted him to lose weight, eat healthier foods, and become more aware of his body.

On the 20th of July 2019, we saw him judging Greg Hardy’s heavyweight battle against Juan Adams. He was a muscular guy with a lot of weight and a belly to show.

However, he appeared considerably skinnier and more athletic in the heavyweight battle between Ben Rothwell and Stefan Struve on December 7, 2019.

MMA Community Reactions To His Slim Body

The MMA community was divided after witnessing his dramatic weight drop.

One fan on the UFC Reddit forum gossiped about Dan looking ill and received 15 upvotes. Another user was astonished by his slim build. Some admirers even thought he had cancer and was on a ketogenic diet or undergoing chemotherapy.

One commenter on the MMA Junkie site inquired why Dan was so thin. Another user agreed, and one of them was amazed with how quickly he was still refereeing following the surgery. One person commented that he appeared underweight because his massive muscles diminished following his surgery.

Miragliotta Endured Surgery Due to His Heart Condition

Dan Miragliotta received a bypass surgery to recuperate from a heart condition that had worsened by February 2019.

According to ‘The Freemelon Society,’ when someone requires a quadruple bypass treatment owing to a heart attack, one might presume that the patient’s diet was poor. Without a bad diet, a person cannot have significant accumulations of garbage, lipids, and cholesterol in more than one artery.

When the blood vessels in the four arteries get obstructed, the cardiac problem worsens. It’s no surprise that Dan underwent such an expensive and risky treatment after being diagnosed with such a problem.

Dan Miragliotta Diet That Led To Heart Condition

Dan Miragliotta’s diet had issues, which led to his poor heart health.

We grabbed his IG feeds from 2019 from the FreeMelon Society video because he has a private one as of 2022.

He is a huge fish fan, as seen by numerous Instagram photos of him posing cheerfully with fish. As many people believe, fish is not a clean source of meat. Fish are high in fat and toxins, and consuming them on a regular basis might harm your health.

He also shared a picture of himself eating pork belly burned ends with Chipotle and honey, which Dan described as’mouth watering.’ He was also carrying a meat brisket. All of this demonstrates that he adores meat. We can also assume that if he publishes this cuisine on Instagram, he is comfortable with it and incorporates it into his diet.

Dan also uploaded pictures of himself with a variety of man-made synthetic protein beverages and other man-made nutritional supplements. He displayed empty cans of drinks he drank on a regular basis to demonstrate his commitment to fitness.

People claim that these pills and drinks help muscles by increasing water retention or salt levels. However, these artificial stimulants are not natural and might be harmful to one’s health. We can presume that these drinks were part of his diet because he feels comfortable exhibiting them on his Instagram.

Diet Plan Of Miragliotta

Miragliotta’s diet was heavy on meat, which contributed to his heart condition.

In 2021, the BMC Medicine Journal published a report based on an investigation of 475,000 British men and women. They warned that consuming a lot of meat, especially red and processed meat, will hurt us in the long run by causing health problems and other fatal ailments.

Dan was a big fan of meat. He showed him eating a variety of animals, including fish, cows, chickens, and roasted pigs. He was constantly enthused about it on Instagram and was not afraid to expose himself grilling.

This processed diet generates an accumulation of acidic wastes, raising the degree of toxaemia, which promotes limp stagnation and finally leads to decreased blood flow. If we monitor our blood flow from 1 to 4 hours after eating a large meat meal, we will notice that it is lowered.

When you combine processed meats, supplements, beverages, oils, salts, and grain goods into a normal diet, you are bound to suffer from serious health problems.

Dan Miragliotta’s operation was undoubtedly expensive. He did it while being aware of the risks involved.

Because the surgery is usually an open-heart procedure, it requires a high level of medical knowledge and costs at least $70,000 in the United States.

Furthermore, physical rehabilitation sessions with the suggested doctors are required following the surgery. These sessions contain beneficial workouts for improved arterial blood flow in the heart, resulting in a faster recovery. On average, one session might cost between $50 and $350.

We should consider the cost as well as the risk. According to WebMD, a primary risk of the procedure is infection or severe bleeding at the incision area, which can lead to death. Patients may develop blood clots, increasing their risk of stroke.

Dan’s bypass surgery in February appears to have been a success, as he returned to refereeing fast on March 30th, 2019, for the match between Kevin Holland and Gerald Meerschaert.

How Did Dan Miragliotta Become An MMA Referee?

Dan Miragliotta began operating his own MMA shows in the 1990s before becoming an MMA referee. He planned to hold 24 MMA events in New York and New Jersey.

Everyone from Matt Serra to Jim Miller and Dan Miller competed on Miragliotta’s shows. Miragliotta would even work as a referee in some of these shows.

He was the ideal ref because he was a large scary figure with a strong martial arts background. Dan would be asked to ref at other MMA events and would eventually become a licenced boxing referee.

Miragliotta continued to gain expertise and skill as an MMA referee during his early years of refereeing. Every month, he would work MMA shows all across the east coast.
