Dave Hakstol Wife Erinn O’Keefe Is An Adviser At North Dakota

In 2011, Dave Hakstol and his wife, Erinn O’Keefe, joined forces with UND Athletics. They established the Dave and Erinn Hakstol Hockey Scholarship endowment.

The couple had the wonderful idea of returning it so that they may continue to develop for the future. The contribution not only provides a legacy for the family at UND, but it also supports North Dakota Spirit, the Campaign for UND. However, they bring the men’s hockey team one step closer to being endowed.

Erinn noted at the time that they needed to leave a legacy because of how they felt about everyone involved. Their contribution would also enable the organisation to provide coaching jobs, scholarships, and annual excellence funds.

Erinn has worked as an adviser for the Gamma Phi Beta sorority at the University of North Dakota. She is a strong-willed woman who has successfully managed both her personal and professional lives.

Dave’s wife appears to be stunning. She and her spouse frequently attend NBA games.

Dave Hakstol And Erinn O’Keefe Married Life

Dave Hakstol has been happily married to Erinn O’Keefe for the past 19 years. Soon after their two-year relationship ended, the pair married in 2003.

In 2001, Hakstol was hired as an assistant coach at North Dakota, where he met his future wife Erinn.

During a vacation to Pelican Lake, the two met through mutual friends. When Erinn sandbagged him on a bet, the NHL coach eventually fell for her.

They bet that whomever could stay on their water skis for the longest period of time would win a beer. Dave wobbled for a time on a single slalom ski before collapsing into the sea.

Meanwhile, Erinn stayed longer than Dave because she had spent her entire life on the lake. Soon after returning from their vacation, the couple began dating. Because Dave was frequently on recruiting travels, the captivated pair primarily did long-distance dating.

Mrs. Hakstol also stated that, while she admired what he did, she believed that continuing as an assistant would be detrimental to him.

Erinn had faith that if Dave ever had a job with more responsibility and power, he would not be held back by such constraints. The devoted couple’s bond grew stronger with each passing day, and they are now the parents of two gorgeous children.

The family is close friends with Kathryn Tappen’s ex-husband, Kraken’s Assistant coach, Jay Leach.

Age Difference Between Dave Hakstol and Erinn O’Keefe

Dave Hakstol, the NHL’s head coach, is 54 years old and was born on July 30, 1968, to his parents. Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada is where he was born.

Similarly, his wife, Erinn O’Keefe, appears to be between 45 and 50 years old. She was born in the United States to Tim O’Keefe and his wife.

Despite this, it is assumed that Dave is 5 to 7 years older than his wife; however, this is merely a guess based on their appearance.

Erinn’s father is the President and CEO of the University of North Dakota Alumni Association and Foundation. Tim is also a former UND defenceman who is involved in Dave’s social circles.

Mrs. Hakstol expressed concern for her husband’s well-being in 2016 after his team fell to the Washington Capitals in the first round of the playoffs, when she noted his unkempt appearance in the Hakstols’ breakfast nook.

Erinn noted that her husband always greets her in the morning with a stern greeting. But he didn’t even give him an overview of his holdings that day.

Dave didn’t tell his wife the same joke he’s told every day for the past 13 years.

She also saw that, whereas Hakstol usually wears a three-piece business suit, he had omitted his normal silk pocket square in favour of a generic cotton square on Monday.

NHL Career

Hakstol became the Flyers’ head coach at the age of 46 in 2015, but his path to the position was unusual to say the least.

Prior to taking over at Philadelphia, Hakstol was the head coach at the University of North Dakota. He had no prior experience coaching at the NHL level. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bob Johnson, who went from Wisconsin to the Flames in 1982, was the last coach to go straight from the college levels to the top seat on an NHL team’s coaching staff. Ned Harkness was the first to do it (from Cornell to the Red Wings in 1970), and Jim Montgomery (University of Denver to the Stars in 2018) is the first coach to do it since.

Hakstol has coached NHLers such as Jonathan Toews, T.J. Oshie, and Matt Greene, among others, at North Dakota. His team had a 289-143-43 record and made the Frozen Four in 2015. More than 30 players were sent to the NHL by him.

His time in Philadelphia, however, was brief, since he only coached for three full seasons. The Flyers made the playoffs in 2015-16 and 2017-18, but were eliminated in 2016-17. In both trips to the Stanley Cup playoffs, his teams did not advance past the first round. He was fired 31 games into the 2018-19 season and concluded his tenure with a 134-101-42 record with Philadelphia.

He returned to the NHL before the 2019-20 season as an assistant head coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

International coaching experience

In addition to coaching in the NHL and at the collegiate level, Hakstol was a member of Canada’s men’s national ice hockey team’s coaching staff for the 2017 IIHF World Championship tournament and the 2019 IIHF World Championship tournament.

According to NBC Sports, he and Francis collaborated at the 2019 IIHF World Championships, as Canada proceeded to the finals and finished as the tournament’s runner-up. Canada also finished second in the 2017 IIHF World Championship.
