Norm And Deeann Batherson Are Drake Batherson Parents

Drake Batherson was born to Deeann Batherson and Norm Batherson. His family has a long history with hockey and the NHL.

Looking at Drake’s father’s profile, we can see how involved he was in hockey when he was younger. And we can see how his mother admires and is interested in these activities, as she was into hockey when she was a teenager.

She stated that she has been following every game because her son, Drake, is a hockey fan. When individuals tell her they have never watched hockey before, she expresses her delight that Drake has brought out new hockey enthusiasts.

Drake’s Father Was A Hockey Player

Norm Batherson, the father of Ottawa Senators hockey player Drake Batherson, was himself a professional player. He was a member of the Ottawa organization’s Prince Edward Island Senators and Thunder Bay Senators.

Norm signed a pro contract with the Senator’s office in 1993. He also played for the franchise’s AHL farm affiliate in Charlottetown. Drake, 19, is expected to sign a deal with the Ottawa Senators, similar to his father.

Meanwhile, Drake had to relocate with his parents frequently due to his father’s numerous assignments in other towns and countries for hockey matches.

His father is from North Sydney. Drake Batherson, on the other hand, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father was playing minor league baseball at the time. As a result, Drake holds dual citizenship in the United States and Canada.

The family then relocated to Germany, where Norm played pro hockey for seven seasons with four different teams. And Drake was honing his hockey talents in each German city they visited.

Batherson also recalls travelling to several locations for his father’s hockey games. He also recalls getting up early with his father and going to the hockey field whenever there was free ice.

Batherson Family Is Full Of Professional Players

The Batherson family includes professional players in addition to Drake and his father, Norm. In terms of family history, Drake’s grandfather, Matt Batherson, used to play junior, senior, and college hockey.

They were all ecstatic when they found out Drake had joined the team. It was the moment when he was selected by the Screaming Eagles in the sixth round of the 2015 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft. He was born in New Minas, Nova Scotia, at the time.

Batherson’s grandfather emphasises how they hope their children will outperform them, and in Drake’s case, it was inevitable. He also notes that his father, Norm, was a fantastic hockey player, and that Drake may be even better now.

His grandfather, a former player, saw Drake’s talent when he was four years old. With all of the expectations, Matt yearned for a gold medal as his best Christmas present from him.

Similarly, his uncle or mother’s brother, Dennis Vial, was a sports fan, having spent several seasons with Ottawa in the 1990s and being one of the NHL’s most frequent combatants at the time.

Drake’s younger sister, Mae Batherson, was received a full scholarship at Syracuse University beginning in the 2019-2020 season.

Mae stated in an interview that one of her aims since beginning to play hockey was to reach the highest level of women’s hockey. She also planned to play university hockey in order to acquire a scholarship and a degree.

She spent five years with Windsor’s elite-level girls’ hockey team, King’s-Edgehill. She stated that the experience helped her obtain great exposure across North America.

Batherson also mentions Drake as one of her true role models as she grew up. And seeing one of his dreams come true has inspired her to work hard to make her own dream a reality.

Deeann recalls her children setting objectives like shooting 1,000 pucks each day or making a provincial team. Despite the fact that her children were only two and a half years apart in age, she claims they were not very competitive with one other. They do, however, provide important assistance to one another.

Deeann remembered playing hockey as a child. She recalled girls’ teams with participants ranging in age from 12 to 18. However, she is pleased to see that there are more chances for females like her daughter these days.
