Eva Lys: Biography
She was born in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv. Her father is a former tennis player who competed for Ukraine in the Davis Cup and is now working as a coach in Hamburg.
During his playing career, he was a part of the Davis Cup team. A fellow tennis player and Lys Matviyenko’s older sister is Lisa Matviyenko.
She received her education in Hamburg at the Sportgymnasium Alter Teichweg, the same institution that both Marvin Moller and Carina Witthoft attended and graduated from.
She still has family in Ukraine, and following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, she voiced her disapproval of what she called the “disrespectful” behavior of several Russian players.

Both Vladimir and Maria Lys hail from Ukraine and made their debut in this world in Kyiv. Eva often competes in competitions, and Vladamir and Maria are always by her side.

Father
The father of Lys, Vladamir, competes in the professional tennis tournament known as the Davis Cup for Ukraine. Following the relocation of his family to Germany, Vladamir found work as a tennis instructor.

The sixth of October 1997 is the date of Lisa’s birth, making her the oldest of her three sisters. Matviyenko is a former traveling pro who competed in the doubles division of the WTA Tour main draw for the first time at the 2021 Hamburg European Open.
In 2021, the eldest Lys sister decided to put her tennis playing days behind her and concentrate on her studies instead. At the moment, she is following in her mother’s footsteps by pursuing a degree in law.
Lys benefited tremendously in her professional tennis career from the knowledge that she gained from Matviyenko. Matviyenko is very supportive of her sister, accompanying her to her practice matches and offering sound advise on a consistent basis.

Lys accompanied her older sister on her journey through the ITF W15s in Antalya and gained knowledge from her at every stage of the competition.
According to her, she would watch her sister play the tour so that she could pick up on the things that went well and pay attention to the things that went wrong. She credits her sister as being one of the primary factors contributing to her excellent performance at the moment.
