Trent Dilfer Bio

Trent Farris Dilfer is a former quarterback who played for teams in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on March 13, 1972. In the 1994 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected him with the sixth overall pick. He went on to play for the Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks, Cleveland Browns, and San Francisco 49ers after being drafted by the Buccaneers. He attended Fresno State University, where he participated in college football. While playing for the Buccaneers in 1997, Dilfer was selected for the Pro Bowl, and while playing for the Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV, he won a Super Bowl ring. At the moment, he works for ESPN as an analyst for the NFL.

Professional career

After his junior year at Fresno State, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Dilfer with the 6th overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft in 1994. This was the start of his professional football career. Mel Kiper, Jr., an expert on the NFL Draft for ESPN, was very upset that the Indianapolis Colts didn’t pick Dilfer. This made Colts general manager Bill Tobin say on TV, “Who the hell is Mel Kiper?” and question Kiper’s qualifications to judge the draught. This back-and-forth is often shown as one of the best parts of ESPN’s coverage of the draught.

After playing in a few games as a rookie, Dilfer became the starter in his second year. However, he really struggled during a bad time for the Buccaneers as a whole. In 1995, he threw only 4 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions. The next year, he made some progress by scoring more touchdowns, but he didn’t do much to improve his turnovers (recording a career-high 19).

The next season, Tampa’s offence was helped by rookie Warrick Dunn and the rise of Mike Alstott. Dilfer was the first Tampa Bay quarterback to go to the Pro Bowl, which some say was a reward for a very efficient season in the Buccaneers’ limited offence. In the first 12 games of that season, Dilfer threw for 2,213 yards, 19 touchdowns, and five interceptions. But Dilfer’s performance in his last four games was seen as getting worse. In the playoffs, the Buccaneers beat their division rivals, the Detroit Lions, but lost to their long-time division rivals, the Green Bay Packers, who were also the defending Super Bowl champions. He won more games with the Bucs than any other quarterback in the team’s history, and he led the team to its first playoff game in 15 years.

Before getting married in 1993, the pair dated for a period of time totaling several years. They had not yet left the Fresno States at that point in time.
