Who Are Frank Gore Jr Parents? Meet His Father Frank Gore Sr And Mother Shasta Smith

One of the most successful rushing backs of all time, Frank Gore, struggled with dyslexia throughout his childhood.

His struggle did not stop him from making it big and playing for the top NFL teams. He is also trying his boxing skills after retiring from NFL.

Frank Gore Jr comes from a family of former NFL and CFL players. Southern Miss’s running back is Gore Jr.

Standing at 5ft 8, Gore Jr is the replica of his father, Gore Sr, the NFL legend and the former running back of the 49ers. Earlier this year, the father-son duo had even competed in a friendly battle to know who is the better running back.

Parents Of Frank Gore Jr: Meet Frank Gore Sr And Shasta Smith

Frank Gore Jr is the only child of Frank Gore Sr and Shasta Smith and was raised in Miami.

Though his parents are separated, the running back shares a strong attachment to both his mom and dad. The term “responsibility” refers to the act of determining whether or not a person is responsible for his or her own actions.

Frank Gore Jr was born when his father was only 19 years old and fresh off winning the national championship with Miami. However, the footballer continued his career, earning him a spot on the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team.

Frank Gore, a third-round pick, made it a point not to burden his son with carrying on his legacy. In an interview, the New York Jets running back stated that he wanted his child to fall in love with the game naturally rather than being forced to play it.

But like every athlete dad, Frank Sr does have regrets over not being there for his son in his growing years. It wasn’t until 2018 that he realised his son had grown into a carbon copy of him in terms of playing style.

Shasta Smith, Frank Jr’s mother, raised him for the majority of his childhood. On the occasion of Mother’s Day, the running back shared a post on his Instagram account for his mother.

Frank Gore Sr. awarded Shasta a modified child support payment in 2020. She had previously filed a petition in 2014 as well and had won the case.

Frank Gore Jr Belongs To Athletic Family

The Frank Gore Jr comes from a family with a footballing background including cousins who are former and current players.

His father, as we all know, is a well-known NFL running back from the early 2000s. Though Gore Jr had a difficult childhood, his father had it much worse.

Frank Gore Sr was born dyslexic and raised by single mother Lizzie, who died in 2007 after a long battle with addiction.

Shaquille Cooper, Shakur Cooper, and Gilbert Frierson are among his father’s cousins. Gilbert is a fifth-year redshirt junior defensive back for the University of Miami Athletics.

Gilbert’s most recent game was on September 3, 2022, against Bethune-Cookman, in which he had two tackles and one interception. Shakur Cooper is a former Florida International University linebacker who, like Gilbert, attended Coral Gables High School.

Shaquille Copper previously played for the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League for two seasons before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Early Life Of Frank Gore

When one has achieved something or made something, everyone longs to know about them, their lives, and their success.

However, little do they know about their phases of life, their stepping stones.

Frankin Gore was born on May 14, 1983, under the Taurus sun sign in Miami, Florida.

Liz Gore, his single mother, raised him.

In the bargain, the place Gore grew up in, Coconut, was well-known for poverty and football.

“I don’t know how long she had suffered alone to take her to that extent”; however, Gore was fortunate enough to come across her.

They had a heart-to-heart connection at the time, and Liz has since stopped using drugs.

Dyslexia

When Gore was a child, he was diagnosed with Dyslexia, a severe learning disability. He struggled with various learning tasks in school, so he turned to sports to distract himself from his academic difficulties.

Gore improved his ability to seek help and control his dyslexia. He overcame that difficulty as well as a number of other personal challenges to emerge as one of the top running backs in the league.

Along with his passion for football, Gore has always maintained a positive attitude, which has allowed him to thrive, according to Dyslexiahelp.umich.edu.

2018

The 2017 offseason, Gore trained for the season in a familiar fashion, down in Miami working out with younger running backs from around the league. The Colts added competition at running back by drafting Marlon Mack to compete for the starting spot. Gore welcomed the competition, stating “I believe that everyone should have depth in order to compete at their position.

The more people you have, the more hungry that person should be. You know the guys from last year and adding the new young guys come training camp time the best man should win. If you enjoy this game, you’ll step up to the plate.” Andrew Luck’s shoulder injury prevented him from playing in the season opener, so the offence struggled against the Los Angeles Rams, losing 46-9, and Gore only had 10 rushing attempts for 42 yards.

The answer is yes. This was followed by 57 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 31-28 win over the Cleveland Browns, then four consecutive games under 50 yards, before 82-, 51-, and 54-yard performances in Weeks 8 through 10, all with zero touchdowns over the seven-game span.

However, the following day several sources claimed that Gore had second thoughts about his agreement, and instead signed with Indianapolis.

Gore had a solid season, but it was the first time in his career that he did not rush for 1,000 yards in all 16 games. Gore finished the season ninth in the league in rushing yards with 967 and six touchdowns, while also adding 34 receptions for 267 yards and a touchdown.
