Gerald Holmes (Murder Case): Current Location Of Wife Lori Grotto, Why Did She Killed Him? More Details

A lady from Alpena has been arrested and taken into custody in connection with the death of her estranged husband, whose remains were discovered in Alpena nearly two years ago.

After being arrested by Michigan State police in Alpena, which is approximately 190 miles north of Detroit, Lori Grotto has been transferred to the Alpena County Prison, where she is being held without bond.1

On April 6, 2008, according to the Bay City Times, law enforcement officials discovered the torso of Gerald Holmes, who was 47 years old. The torso was found in the Thunder Bay River.

Since September of 2007, no one had seen or heard from him. The personnel working in the jail did not immediately know whether or not Grotto had a lawyer representing him.

Lori Grotto: Current Location

In late 2007, Sara was reportedly asleep when she was awoken in the middle of the night by her roommate Lori. Sara testified that this event occurred. The girl, who was a minor at the time, was stunned to uncover Jerry’s body when her mother took her down to the basement.2

After being told by Lori to assist her in loading the body onto her truck, Sara refused and ran to the upper floor.

In spite of this, she was able to hear her mother in the basement using a chainsaw to cut Jerry’s body into pieces. Sara asserted that Lori had gotten rid of the components and had threatened her to be silent about the entire episode.

The officers, armed with Sara’s testimony, obtained a search warrant for the house that the family had been living in at the time as well as Lori’s pickup truck.

After so many months, the house still had no proof, but the automobile gave the police with the most important piece of the puzzle. There was a spot of blood on the seatbelt of the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

On February 12, 2010, Lori was taken into custody after a DNA test revealed a match between her and Jerry’s biological daughter. On August of 2010, she entered a guilty plea to the charge of murdering Jerry.

In her statement, she claimed that she stabbed him in a fit of rage after he tried to leave her.

Yet, Lori has never admitted to dismembering Jerry or divulged the method by which she disposed of his remains.

In the end, she entered a guilty plea to murder in the second degree, and in September of 2010, she was sentenced to life in prison for her crime. Before being considered for release, she must serve a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison.

According to the documents filed with the court, she is currently serving her time at the Women’s Huron Valley Correctional Institution located in Pittsfield Township, Michigan. She is currently in her mid-50s.

Gerald Holmes (Murder Case): How Did He Die?

Gerald R. “Jerry” Holmes, a resident of Alpena, Michigan, was known as a “large guy” who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and a variety of other activities that took place outside.

When he and Erika Holmes’ mother got a divorce, she was maybe nine or 10 years old. Erika was his second oldest daughter at the time. She used the phrase “a nice individual” to describe him.

Julie Caolliflower, his sister, shared the following recollection: “He adored being a dad. He was the type of person who would assist everyone. He like it very much to relate tales. He enjoyed interacting with others.

The story goes that Jerry had a hard life, with him worrying in a severe industrial accident when he was a teenager. This happened according to the present.

In the episode, it was explained that while Jerry was working at a producing unit, a furnace crashed on him and pinned him to the underbelly of the structure. He was involved in a number of terrible accidents that affected the lower part of his body.

Even though the medical doctors tried every factor to save lots of lots of his limbs, they needed to amputate considered one of his legs. Julie asserts that her brother battled the “demons of the anguish,” which caused him to undergo continuous change.

Erike related the story of how he became dependent on drugs and alcohol and how he desired to go to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings while her mother attended Al-anon gatherings.

Erika described how the family had always worked toward “Jerry’s sobriety,” but in the end, Jerry’s substance usage resulted in the dissolution of his marriage to his first partner.

Recalling the events, Julie said, “After his divorce, he was having issues coupled together with his conduct.”

After becoming concerned in an automobile accident and being forced by the courtroom to go to a rehabilitation institution in Alpena, Michigan, the place he met his second companion, Lori, he had the accident.

The couple tied the knot in the latter part of the 1990s, and Jerry has maintained his sobriety for a very long time following the ceremony. His family and friends were in for a surprise when things finally started looking like they were going in the right direction.

The Alpena Police Department officers who were on patrol in the Thunder Bay River on April 6, 2008 came across a torso that had been left to float downstream. Although the police searched the beach and sent in divers to look for various body parts, they were unable to find the remaining pieces of the body.

As a result of water eroding all bodily evidence, the coroner was unable to determine the official cause of death for the deceased individual. Yet, they came to the conclusion that “mechanical measures” were used to separate the lower half from the upper half.

The fact that Jerry had been the victim of multiple stab wounds was not discovered by the authorities until much later in the course of the investigation. His fingerprint served as the means by which he was identified.
