Tell Me Lies Episode 4 Ending
We see Stephen lying right through Lucy in Tell Me Lies Episode 4 and the latter succumbing to it. Stephen is proving to be a competent liar with each passing episode, from where he is staying for his job interview in New York to not coming clean about Macy’s death.
In Tell Me Lies Episode 4, Lucy expresses her dissatisfaction with the revelation that Stephen may be sleeping with other people. Despite the fact that they agreed on this arrangement in previous episodes, Lucy becomes anxious and unhappy every time she discovers Stephen’s packet of condoms. Lucy and Stephen have another raunchy sexual encounter near the end of the episode, after which Lucy goes to the restroom to pee.
While in the restroom, she notices a used condom in the trash, which bothers her. In the first segment of the episode, Lucy attempts to bring up this subject with Stephen, who cleverly manipulates her, gaslights her, and moves away from the conversation. As a result, at the end of the episode, when Lucy discovers the used condom, she is less than thrilled, but she does not confront Stephen and instead ends up sleeping with him in his dorm.
Another significant event in Tell Me Lies Episode 4 is Bree finally losing her virginity. Tim is the person in question. However, she is unmoved by the sex, and the two soon call it quits. She almost hooks up with Drew in the heat of the moment, but eventually backs off. We see Bree strike up a conversation with Evan at the end of the episode, which we know is where her relationship with Evan begins and will culminate in a wedding. The audience is also informed that Evan has broken up with Allie.
How Did Macy’s Death Affect Her?
We can conclude from the three episodes that Lucy’s father’s death affected her to the point where she didn’t know what she was feeling most of the time. She had been in a two-year relationship with her high school boyfriend, but she did not love him. She was with him because the majority of her friends had boyfriends. She lacked enthusiasm for anyone or anything. She was looking for something to overwhelm her because she struggled to feel excited as an adult. This explains why she eventually became attracted to Stephen. The overwhelming toxicity did make her feel, even if the emotion shifted from passion to distrust and uncertainty.
When her friends inquired about her mother, she stated that she had lost the right to be addressed as “Mom,” and thus her phone number was only saved with her initials. We don’t know if there was a specific incident that strained her relationship with her mother or if it was simply the way her mother treated her. She was sick of her mother blaming her actions on her father. She cared enough about her father to be moved by the thought that he might not have been proud of the woman she grew up to be. Lucy decided to spend the day alone in her room after hearing a voice message left by her mother. Macy invited Lucy to join her at a party, but Lucy declined. Macy went on to say that she was a terrible driver and that a company would be beneficial, but she declined her offer. She noticed Macy hadn’t returned the next morning. She later learned from Bree that Macy had died in an accident while returning from the party. Lucy couldn’t help but blame herself for Macy’s death, believing that if she had accompanied her, she could have saved her life. Pippa and Bree, on the other hand, stopped her from blaming herself for an accident she couldn’t have avoided. To deal with her emotions, she got drunk at a party, and that’s when she ran into Stephen again. He assisted her in returning to her dorm and slept beside her to keep her company. Lucy was embarrassed by her behavior the night before, but she found solace in Stephen. They kissed, and he wanted to make out with her, but she declined.
Lucy had only known Macy for a few days. She was sick of people expecting her to mourn her death even after it had been a while. She was irritated by how many people continued to leave flowers outside Macy’s room. She was aware that her annoyance might come across as offensive, but it was how she felt. Macy wore her lipstick on her date with Stephen after her parents left her their daughter’s makeup kit. Later, Bree and Pippa expressed their disapproval of wearing a dead girl’s makeup. But Lucy was unconcerned. She didn’t see anything wrong with wearing Macy’s makeup and refused to feel bad about it. She once wrote a story based on her life, but her classmates thought the protagonist, Liz, was a sociopath. Despite the fact that the man she was dating, Parker, was suffocating her in their relationship, the readers felt she treated him coldly and harshly. To support her protagonist, Lucy stated that one does not simply shut off their feelings, implying that her lack of expression was a result of her previous loss.
Whose Photographs Was Stephen Observing? What Does It Mean?
Stephen cannot be trusted, as evidenced by the three episodes. He can be the most sympathetic person one moment and then lie about himself the next. During one of his college classes, he discussed how soft power is everything in the world when it comes to maintaining diplomatic ties. He knew how to make his lovers crave his love, and he enjoyed playing mind games with them. He aspired to be a lawyer, and deception was something he did on a daily basis. While he was charming Lucy, he was also attempting to reconcile with his ex-girlfriend, Diana. They were no longer together in the eyes of the world, but Diana couldn’t deny that Stephen still had an impact on her. Diana ended her relationship with Stephen after discovering that he was cheating on her. He refused to accept defeat because she could not forgive him for his actions. He had to persuade her; it was almost a test for him. And Lucy was the freshman on his mind. While attempting to demonstrate his devotion to Diana, he continued to spend nights with Lucy. When he needed emotional support, he usually turned to Diana. He rushed to meet his ex-lover after receiving a stressful call from his mother.
Lucy knew they were no longer together when she heard about Diana from her friends. Diana was this picture-perfect woman who was both academically gifted and philanthropic. Lucy went straight from the party to Stephen’s room after speaking with Diana to spend the night with him. Diana posed a threat, and Lucy did not want to be left out. The majority of the relationships were extremely toxic. Pippa even stated that no matter how thorough it was, one had to act as if they were not interested in the men they liked because it was attractive. Others did not understand that there was a life after college where having fun was not enough to sustain a relationship. The girls decided not to tell the men they liked about their feelings, instead making them feel threatened. Stephen wanted Lucy to date other men because it was her first year of college and he didn’t want to tie her down in a relationship. Later, when Lucy tried to find out if he was sleeping with other women in an indirect way, he managed to make her feel special without giving too much away. It was nearly impossible to figure out what Stephen was thinking. Later, near the end of episode three, we see Stephen going through his photo collection, and among the photos of him and Diana were some of Macy.
While we were aware that Macy and Stephen had known each other prior to college, their relationship was unknown to us. The pictures show intimate moments, and it’s possible that Macy wanted to share her relationship with Stephen with Lucy, but she became distracted, and they never had that conversation. Drew, Wringley’s brother, blamed himself for Macy’s accident, claiming that his car had crossed hers but that he had chosen not to stop. He believed she might have survived if he had stopped and helped her. Drew was consumed by guilt and struggled to live with it. Stephen was aware of Drew’s actions that night and had asked him to keep them a secret in order to protect himself from the police. What’s strange is how well Stephen knew Macy, but he never mentioned her. Was he responsible for Macy’s death? Did he cheat on Diana with Macy, or was she a previous relationship? Hopefully, we’ll learn more about it soon.
