After suffering a laceration to her right thumb that required stitches and prevented her from continuing to compete in the tournament, Gala was forced to withdraw from the competition, and Soppadhandhi was chosen to take her place as a substitute player.

Before a substitute player may be formally added to the team, the Event Technical Committee must first give their blessing for the replacement player’s inclusion on the roster.3
