Cabinet Nod to MoU between India and UAE on Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space

  • The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Harendra Modi, has given its ex-post approval on March 10/2016 for the MoU between India and United Arab Emirates, ’ (UAE) on Technical Cooperation in Cyber Space and Combating Cyber-Crime signed in February, 2b 16.
  • This agreement would provide help in handling of the issues related to the cyber-crime between the two countries, particularly through coordination and exchange of information in relation with cyber crime, cooperation and training in cyber-crime investigation, etc.
  • Ministry of Home affairs will be the nodal agency on the Indian side whereas the nodal agency from UAE side will be the Directorate General of , Criminal Security, Ministry of Interior and the State Security Department.

UN’s World Happiness Index 2016

  • According to the World Happiness Report 2016, published by the Sustainable Development Solutions ! Network (SDSN) in advance Of UN World Happiness Day on March 20, 2016, India ranked 118th out of 156 countries in a global list of the happiest nations,
  • The report takes into account GDP per capita, life expectancy, social support and freedom to make life choices as indicators of happiness. Denmark takes the top spot as the happiest country in the world. Switzerland was ranked second on the list, followed by Iceland, Norway and Finland.
  • India ranked 118th, down from 117th in 2015. India was among the group of 10 countries witnessing the largest happiness declines along with Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Yemen and Botswana. India comes below nations like Somalia (76), China (83), Pakistan (92), Iran (105), Palestinian Territories (108) and Bangladesh (110). India had ranked’llith in 2013.

Summit/Meeting

13th India-European Union Summit Held

  • The 13th EU-India Summit was held in Brussels on March 30, 2016. The EU was’represented by Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Jean-Claude Juiicker, President of the European Commission. The Republic of India was represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The EU and India will remain united and firm in the fight against hatred, violent extremism and terrorism. As global partners and the world’s largest democracies, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the EU-India Strategic Partnership based on shared values and principles.
  • To guide common work towards a stronger, result-oriented and mutually beneficial. Strategic Partnership, the leaders endorsed the ‘EU-India Agenda for Action-2020’ setting out a concrete road-map for the EU-India Strategic Partnership for the next five years.
