James Antony Brayshaw (born 11 May 1967) is a former Australian state cricketer and current radio presenter. He was known as Jamie Brayshaw in cricket. He is the son of former Western Australian cricketer and Australian rules footballer Ian Brayshaw and the brother of former North Melbourne AFL player Mark Brayshaw.
Angus Brayshaw’s uncle is James. He recently resigned as Chairman of the North Melbourne Football Club in accordance with the club’s constitution, and he served as Chairman of the Melbourne Renegades cricket franchise from 2011 to 2015.
Cricket Career
He had a nearly ten-year career playing for South Australia and Western Australia. He was a reliable fielder at the time, with 43 catches. Not only is James a two-time Sheffield shield winner, but he accomplished this feat with two states, both of which occurred on the teams’ respective home fields. James won the 1987/1988 final with Western Australia at the WACA, and the 1995/1996 final with South Australia at Adelaide Oval. Also, James would play domestic cricket for one more season before retiring at the age of 30.
James batted solidly in the 1995/1996 Sheffield Shield final (South Australia v Western Australia) at Adelaide Oval, hitting 87 (run out) in the first innings and 66 (caught and bowled off Brad Hogg) in the second innings. Both teams in the final had high-quality players who had previously represented Australia at various levels, and several of them went on to coach at the state and national levels. West Australia fielded Michael Hussey, Justin Langer, Tom Moody, Damien Martyn, Adam Gilchrist, Joe Angel, Brad Hogg, and Brendon Julian among others. South Australia fielded Greg Blewett, Darren Lehmann, Tim Neilsen, Tim May, and Jason Gillespie. Unfortunately for the West Australians, the match ended in a draw, despite Adam Gilchrist’s 189 (not out) in the first innings, and James and his South Australian teammates were crowned Sheffield Shield champions in 1995/1996.
James again played for West Australia in the 1987/1988 Sheffield Shield victory, but his batting performance was less impressive. scoring 24 off 104 balls in the first innings and 4 off 8 balls in the second, and being caught off two international test captains, Allan Border in the first innings and Ian Botham in the second.

Media Career
Brayshaw worked for the Seven Network in Adelaide in the 1990s. This included filling in as a sports anchor for the Seven Nightly News bulletin and contributing to local football debate shows like Footy Plus. In early 1998, James joined Amanda Blair and Paul Gale on Adelaide’s SAFM, where they eventually became the city’s number one breakfast programme. On-air, he was covered in Adelaide bodypaint after the club he supports, North Melbourne, lost the 1998 AFL Grand Final to them.
His big break came in 2001, when he co-hosted the Seven Network’s Ashes (cricket) action with Jeff Thomson, although he later switched to the Nine Network when the AFL was relocated. He later became a regular commentator in both football and cricket coverage, as well as the nightly presenter for the National Nine News sport report. Brayshaw co-hosted Any Given Sunday with Garry Lyon and Sam Newman in 2005.

He revealed in September 2007 that he will be quitting The Cage to spend more time with his family, right before the show was cancelled owing to high costs and low ratings.

He and three-time Australian snowboard champion Jay Onley worked together to broadcast the action from the Olympic snowboard competition.
Brayshaw and Billy Brownless co-host The Rush Hour on Triple M Melbourne. The show airs during the daily drive-time period. Brayshaw left ‘The Sunday Footy Show’ in 2011 and was replaced by fellow ex-cricketer Simon O’Donnell. In addition, Brayshaw provided commentary on events from the 2012 London Olympics, which Nine and Foxtel have broadcast rights to.
