2018

On December 3, 2018, Leivo was moved to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Michael Carcone after participating in 27 games with the Leafs during the 2018-19 season, a career best. Leivo altered his number from 32 to 17 in Vancouver to honor his father, who wore 17 when he played hockey. On July 5, as a restricted free agent at the end of the season, the Canucks signed Leivo to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

2016

On January 7, 2016, Leivo was named to the 2016 AHL All-Star Classic following a strong first half of the 2015-16 season. On July 21, 2016, the Toronto Maple Leafs signed Leivo to a two-year contract after another excellent season in the AHL and decent production in his few NHL outings.
