Margueritte Aozasa Married Her Husband Mykell Bates In 2021
Mykell Bates married Margueritte Aozasa in December of last year. Margueritte and Mykell met on a co-ed team in 2014 and began dating.
Both Aozasa and Bates work as soccer coaches, and as avid soccer fans, they frequently watch games together. Similarly, their seven-year romance was built around week-long vacations, concerts, and championship league visits.
In terms of the league, her husband has played for the US Men’s National Teams at the U17 and U20 levels, as well as competing in the U17 World Cup qualifiers in Jamaica.
Mykell attended Santa Clara University and is now the head coach of the MVLA Soccer Club. He was a member of the Major League Soccer club Toronto FC.

Mykell Bates Is A Founder Of Legacy Soccer
Since 2015, Margueritte Aozasa’s husband, Mykell Bates, has been a founder and trainer at the Legacy soccer club. Mykell was raised in Roseville, California.
Similarly, he is listed on LinkedIn as the head soccer coach at MVLA Soccer Club, a position he has held for the past nine years. Second, he spent over a year as a sales associate at Yelp.
After a standout four-year career at Santa Clara, Bates was selected by Toronto FC in the second round of the 2012 Major League Soccer Supplemental Draft.
He played DI soccer, was a student ambassador, and served as an assistant coach for the Santa Clara men’s soccer team during his four-year marketing studies at Santa Clara University.
He received his master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on exercise physiology in 2015. Also, prior to that, he worked as a youth development intern for Seattle Sounders FC and as a sales intern for Topics Entertainment for six months.
Margueritte And Mykell Began Their Relationship In 2014
Mykell, Margueritte’s boyfriend turned husband, asked her out in early 2014. Their possible romance started on the campus of Santa Clara University.
However, Aozasa and Bates have highlighted their relationship chronology on The Knot’s official website, which shows that their love story began in 2014.
They went on a week-long cruise to Mexico after dating for a year. The actual bonding occurred as a result of 6 weeks of core training together prior to the trip.
Aside from that, their years-long friendship thrived with laughter, going to matches, concerts, and coaching together. Furthermore, they began living together in the early months of 2019.
Mykell, a die-hard Drake fan, proposed to Aozasa in July 2020 with a stunning ring that fit on her pinkie finger. They later had it resized, and it became their wedding ring.

Margueritte Wedding With Mykell Was Held In 2021
Mykell and Margueritte exchanged vows at Glen Cove Marina. Their lavish wedding was held at The Lighthouse in a tropical oasis setting.
According to The Knot, the couple hosted a welcome happy hour event in Benicia Bay the day before their wedding, asking guests to dress in something between coaching gear and formal wear.
Furthermore, the celebration was intended to express gratitude to the guests who travelled to witness their wedding. The following day, on December 18, 2021, at 3 p.m., the couple married in a beautiful alfresco ceremony at The Lighthouse.
Following their vow recitation and signing of the marriage certificate, the bride and groom had their first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Bates.
Furthermore, this is their first year as a married couple, and their first wedding anniversary is coming up in about a week and a half.
Mykell Bates Is In LAFC Academy
Bates works as a youth soccer coach for the LAFC academy.
Mykell, a Santa Clara University graduate, worked as a volunteer assistant for the college for a year before being named men’s soccer assistant coach in January 2019.
Similarly, he has trained the U-17 Silicon Valley Soccer Academy at the Mountain View Los Altos Soccer Club since 2013. According to his LinkedIn profile, the coach has been the founder and trainer at Legacy Soccer since 2015.

Bates was also a standout athlete in his prime, having played four years at Santa Clara. He was a two-time captain on the 2010 and 2011 squads as a college athlete, and he also captained the United States Under-17 Men’s National Team in 2007.
Margueritte, a four-year starter at Santa Clara University, also coached the Mountain View-Los Altos Soccer Club for many years. Furthermore, Aozasa was named the sixth head coach in UCLA women’s soccer history in December 2021, the same month she married her man.
Biography Of Mykell Bates
Mykell was raised in Roseville, California. He played for the United States Men’s National Teams at the U17 and U20 levels, and his favourite soccer memories include competing in U17 World Cup qualifiers in Jamaica and competing in the U17 World Cup in South Korea.
Mykell played collegiate soccer at Santa Clara University and is now the Santa Clara men’s soccer team’s assistant coach. Mykell was a member of the Toronto FC MLS team.
One of Mykell’s favourite aspects of coaching is being a part of (and witnessing) player development both on and off the field. Another aspect of the game that he enjoys is the competition aspect, as taught by the coach.
Mykell compares competing as a coach to chess, because a coach is constantly analysing the obvious and even minor nuances. He says it can be difficult and stressful at times, but when done correctly, the feeling is unparalleled.
Mykell attributes his own coaching goals to a conversation he once had with MVLA’s Technical Director Albertin Montoya. Albertin told him that the growth you see in your team as a result of your leadership is the true sense of success.
Since adopting that mindset, Mykell claims that seeing the growth of his players and team not only feels like success, but also like happiness!
Michael Essien is Mykell’s favourite player. Mykell enjoys spending quality time with family and friends (when time allows), seeing/hanging out with his dogs, and watching basketball.
