Process of selection in State Bank of India

The selection procedure of SBI consists of four different stages. So, if you want to become an employee of the most extensive banking sector, you have to clear all the four selection stages. The stages are:

  • Preliminary or Primary Examination.
  • Mains Examination.
  • Face-to-face interview.
  • Verification of Documents.

First, the candidates should clear the preliminary examinations. Based on the result, the preliminary examination’s qualified candidates will be called for the mains examinations. After qualifying for the mains examinations, the selected candidates have to prepare themselves for the personal interview. If you successfully qualify the first three stages, then the fourth stage will be quickly cleared by providing the verification process’s correct documents. Main Exam Pattern of SBI Junior Assistant

SBI follows the exam pattern fixed by the government of India. The stages of examination patterns are as follows:

  1. Preliminary Examination stages-
  • English Language.

Total no. of questions 30, Full marks 30, Time allotted 20 minutes.

  • Quantitative Aptitude.

Total no. of questions 35, Full marks 35, Time allotted 20 minutes.

  • Reasoning.

Total no. of questions 35, Full marks 35, Time allotted 20 minutes.

The total no. of questions in the whole paper is 100, Total marks are 100, and the Duration of the whole paper is 1 hour. 

For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted whoever is appearing for the SBI Junior Assistant examination. No marks will be deducted in any question that is left blank or unattempted by any candidate.    

  1. Mains Examination pattern-
  • Reasoning and Computer Aptitude

Total no. of questions 45, Full marks 60, Time allotted 60 minutes. 

  • Data Analysis and Interpretation.

Total no. of questions 35, Full marks 60, Time allotted 45 minutes.

  • General/Economy/Banking Awareness.

Total no. of questions 40, Full marks 40, Time allotted 35 minutes.

  • English Language.

Total no. of questions 35, Full marks 40, Time allotted 40 minutes.

The total no. of questions in the whole paper is 155, Total marks are 200, and the Duration of the whole paper is 3 hours. 

For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted whoever is appearing for the SBI Junior Assistant examination. No marks will be deducted in any question that is left blank or unattempted by any candidate.

Answer: According to the SBI recruitment board, the candidate applying for the SBI Junior Assistant post must hold a degree.

  • Any prior experience is required for applying for the post of SBI Junior Assistant?

Answer: No experience is required for filling application for the post of SBI Junior Assistant. Freshers can also apply, but you must have a degree.

  • Is an offline mode available for the submission of the SBI examination application?

Answer: SBI application must be submitted using online mode. No offline or any other way can lead to the rejection of your SBI application.

  • For wrong answers, is negative marking available?

Answer: Yes, According to the SBI examination standard, 1/4th of marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • What is the payment method for the SBI examination?

Answer. SBI accepts online payment through credit card/ debit card/net banking. 


According to 01.04.2019, the students of 20 years to 28 years are eligible for giving this exam as of Age criteria. Candidates must not be born earlier than 02.04.1991 and not later than 01.04.1999.
