Rajasthan became the First State in India to Clear Land Title Bill

  • The Rajasthan government has passed the Rajasthan Urban Land (Certification of Titles) Bills 2016 in the State assembly on April 7, 2016.
  • The State residents living in urban areas can seek a certificate of ownership of their lands by paying a nominal fee to the State government. Currently, the application fee of 0.5% of the land rate determined by a district level committee to encourage more people to join this new scheme. It is voluntary for the owners to apply for this certificate.
  • For issuing driving license and fitness certificate an authority will be set-up and will be headed by an Indian Administrative Service Officer. It will seek all the documents from the landowners, and will verify it against records held by the State.
  • The authority will first issue a provisional certificate, for which the State will not stand guarantee. If there are no ‘ objections or dispute arises, the authority will issue a certificate and a map to the owner other land or property with State guarantee.

Andhra Pradesh got its First Canal Top Solar Plant

  • Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has commissioned the canal top solar plant.at Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh on April 6, 2016.
  • It is the first canal top project in Andhra Pradesh and also first of its kind commissioned by BHEL.
  • It has been developed by New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited. (NREDCAP).
  • This plant has unique design, morable walkaway etc. and provide about 10% more power generation than a Fixed Module Mounting Arrangement (MMA).

Establishment of First Horticulture University in Haryana

  • Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh laid the foundation of the first Horticulture University in State on April 6, 2016 at Karnal.
  • It will be built in 118 acres to support the gap between research, teaching and extension activities in the State.
  • It helps in improving productivity, skilled manpower in the production, horticulture education, latest technologies, post , harvest and processing industries etc.

Bihar Imposed Complete Ban on Alcohol

  • The Bihar government on April 5, 2016 decided to impose a total ban on alcohol in towns and cities. In this regard the State Assembly passed a bill to bap country made liquor that has been blamed for deaths in the past.
  • The bill has provision for capital punishment for those engaged in manufacturing or trading illicit liquor in care people die after consuming them.
  • Bihar has become the fourth State after Gujarat, Nagaland and Mizoram to impose complete ban on liquor.
