“He was intoxicated and spiralled out of control… I attempted to talk some sense into him,” Wijaya stated.

According to the statement made by the police, “around 10.30pm Purnianti contacted Scott, and he replied that he was still drinking.”
When Purnianti’s husband was still not at home at 3:45 in the morning, she sent her brother out to look for him.
“Purnianti and her brother were astonished after they found Johnston lying in a pool of blood on the terrace of Uncle Benz Café,” the police stated. “Purnianti and her brother had no idea that Johnston had been attacked.”
Before the fight, Johnston had already indulged in a night of heavy drinking. (Nine) allegations were made by the Indonesian police that Wijaya was imbibing in alcoholic beverages at the time.
The suspect in the murder, who was only 20 years old, stated that Johnston was intoxicated and “throwing bottles on the street.”
According to the allegations, Wijaya attempted to calm him down but was struck by Johnston instead.
“Wijaya was attacked and pummelling,” according to the allegations made by the police. “They both battled on the floor, and Scott swiftly got up and grabbed a chair and threw it at Wijaya.”
It is said that the proprietor of the coffee shop snatched the chair out of Johnston’s hand and then randomly struck him on the head, which resulted in Johnston falling to the ground with severe head injuries.
If proven guilty of murder in Indonesia, Wijaya faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
