Early Years of Morfydd Clark

Morfydd Clark was born in Sweden on March 17, 1989, but when she was seven, she moved with her family to Penarth, Wales, where her mother became a physician and her Northern Irish Glaswegian father worked as a software programmer.

Clark enrolled in a Welsh-language school with her sister while leaving in Penarth; Clark soon realized that she had dyslexia and ADHD; by the time Clark was 14, the pills had made her severally depressed, and 2 years later, her mother forced her to drop out of school, spending a month at home just laying around and doing nothing.

Clark is as Welsh as they come: she grew up just outside Cardiff, speaks fluent Welsh, and left school at 16 to work on her uncle’s farm for a year; her mother encouraged her to try acting because Morfydd used to enjoy it as a child; she was also a part of British Youth Music Theatre’s production “According to Brian Haw.”

She followed her mother’s advice and applied to the National Youth Theatres of Wales and Great Britain, as well as the Welsh National Youth Opera.
