Ajmer institution removal student-exchange programme with Pakistan:

Due to the ongoing tension between the two countries and opposition of some Hindu uniform after the Uri attack, an educational institute in Ajmer has withdrawn a student-exchange programme involving a commission from Pakistan. Around 38 students and teachers from Pakistan were likely to participate at the programme that was scheduled be held at Mayo College between October 2-5. District Collector Ajmer Gaurav Goyal said that due to the protest by Hindu outfits, no-objection certificate (NoC) was not granted for the event. He said the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has been informed of the decision.

5.36 laptops will be distributed to school students by state government

The AIADMK government plans to distribute lakhs of laptops to school students under its scheme to provide free laptops.While following the growing trend of digitalisation in India, in the recent times, many state governments have distributed gadgets like laptops to school students.Recently, the Tamil Nadu government has proposed to distribute free laptops to lakhs of school students under its scheme to provide free laptops. This announcement was made by state Information Technology (IT) Minister M Manikandan at the ‘Connect 2016’, an annual conference and exhibition on information and communication technology (ICT) organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).All the students in the current academic session will be free laptops. This scheme aims to give in total 5.36 lakh laptops.As per reports, this is not the first time that the government has come with this initiative.During its previous five-year term, the AIADMK government had supplied around 32.35 lakh free laptops to the students..Meanwhile, in 2015, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav distributed free laptops to admirable students, who passed class 10 and 12 examinations conducted by CBSE, ICSE and the state board.

Bar Council of India proposing to become the permanent body for conducting the CLAT

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has submitted reports to the Supreme Court (SC), proposing to become the permanent body for conducting the CLAT. If chosen as the conducting body of CLAT, the BCI will then make a legal education committee of the following so that the examination takes place in a smooth manner. The Bar Council of India (BCI) has submitted reports to the Supreme Court (SC), proposing to become the permanent body for conducting the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). The request was submitted by Professor Shamnad Basheer asking SC to find one legal conducting body for CLAT. Presently the CLAT is conducted by the 17 National Law Universities of India on a rotational basis. According to Shiksha report, BCI has proposed that it can conduct CLAT exam and submitted a counter-affidavit that stated: “That the answering respondent proposes Bar Council of India may be permitted to constitute the body of experts through its Legal Education Committee, to hold CLAT wherein the Legal Education Committee Council could involve some sitting and former Hon’ble Judges, noted educationists of legal education and eminent jurists and such irregularities as complained of by the petitioner herein may be effectively redressed”.
