Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (LD College)

 

Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering (LDCE or LD) is located in the capital city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad. The college was established by Kasturibhai Lalbhai and the college named after his father Lalbhai Dalapathi. It was established in the year 1948. The college is administered by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat. Also, the college has 14 departments, offices, 8 hostels and a library. The college is affiliated to the Gujarat Technical University since 2008.

It was because of the donation of rupees 25 lacs and 31.2 hectares of land by the Shri Kasturbhai Lalbhai that the college was established. Sri Kasthuribhai Lalbhai is a textile magnate and donated land for this college along with money. The college took off with 70 students that were enrolled in civil, mechanical, and electrical programs. Back then the college was affiliated to the Bombay University and students were enrolled in undergraduate programs. When the Gujarat Technical University formed in 1950, the college affiliated to that University until it was affiliated to the Bombay University. The institute is All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved.

Course History

During June 1955, admission seats were increased to 150 from 75 and were further increased to 300 in 1957. As a matter of fact, Degree and Diploma granting institutions were separated administratively from June 1963. A postgraduate program in Electrical Engineering was introduced in 1954. Postgraduate course in Mechanical Engineering was started from June 1963 in the area of Refrigeration and Air-conditioning. A postgraduate course in Civil Engineering was introduced in June 1970 in Soil Engineering, Structural Engineering and in Public Health Engineering in June 1972. Masters Programs in Computer Aided Structural Analysis and Design and Water Resources Management were introduced in 1986.

LD college of engineering also has different clubs for its students. Namely, Adventure, FOSS Programming Club, IEEE, Mind Palace, National Service Scheme, SAE India Collegiate Club, Team Robocon and Vox Populi.

Other Facilities

The college offers various facilities from Hostels to Halls. The institute has six hostel blocks that provide accommodation to 750 students. As a matter of fact, there is two mess in the hostel campus which are managed by students themselves.The campus has offices, hostels, and residences of the Principal, recto, and wardens.

Laboratories

At LD college IT department has fully equipped and northern liberties for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. These laboratories are recognized by various organizations for testing and standardization. In emerging areas that are added in the university is adding new laboratories. The laboratories also cater to industrial testing in diverse feels like an addition to the students. Along with everything, the college also offers free internet facility to students and faculty.  this is also given to the majority of lapse equipped with highly be configured computer.

Workshop

Inter College organizers various workshops for various subjects that is to show students the basic operations of manufacturing and production. The college has a CNC machine, an electro-discharge machine, and measuring instruments for workshops.  along with these then schedule also has a thermal workshop in which boy dies in other documents can be studied. The call it also has automobile workshop for the automobile students.

Sports

For all dedicated Sports like Cricket, Tennis, Badminton, Kabbadi, Football, Volleyball etc.college has dedicated themes. The college has sports ground for sports like Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis court and Indoor Badminton court. In sports fest, students take part every year at the university level. This is a sports fest brings Laurel to the college.

Library

The library has 1,03,000 technical books, 173 periodicals, reference books, handbooks, encyclopedias and Indian standards.A book Bank facility is offered to the students of LD college from the library. During the time of the examinations, students are offered in the extra living facility from early morning to evening for the preparation during exams. Library on the set of Machines and photocopy services are provided to students and staff members at a nominal rate.

Computer facility

In addition to the laboratories at the LD College, each department has their own computer centers. These computer labs have their own Sun workstations with Solaris and Dec Alpha. All computer labs of all departments are connected to internet facility. Every department of the college is also supported with wi-fi.

Training and Placement Cell

A training and placement cell is maintained by the institute that helps students for job preparations and the real market. It provides assistance to the students in developing their interviewing skills along with aptitude. Also, this TnP cell organizes campus drives from various major industries for the final year students. Where students get their jobs at LD college from this training and placement cell. It also helps the faculty to remain in the network or be in network with the alumni and potential employers. This training and placement cell of LD college organizes entrepreneurship awareness camp for the students to develop skills. For the first-hand information from industry professionals the college organizers lectures from facilities of India and abroad.  

Hostel

At present, the hostel facility at LD college offers this facility for 787 students.  there are two men at the hostel campus which are managed by students. For the hostel library, there are many newspapers and magazines are subscribed to accommodate students in their free time. Each hostel has an entertainment facility that includes TV rooms badminton rules and gymnasium along with outdoor indoor games. The hostel is administered by the rector and four wardens.

Canteen

The canteen is located at the center of the campus. This facility is available for the students and staff at reasonable rates. Separate space is allocated to girls student in the canteen.

NCC activity

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a major youth organization in the country. It is a link between defense and education. The objective of the NCC is to make citizens who show discipline, ideals, services, the dignity of labor and hard work, and a spirit of adventure.

NSS Activity

National Service Scheme is another youth organization which has started in the year 2012 in the college. Along with NCC, this youth organization takes an active part in the social and cultural programs which take place in the college. NSS volunteers also take place in annual camps held in various parts of the country. They are awarded certificates after the completion of course.

Post office and Bank

A post office and a bank are situated near the campus of Gujarat University.

Gymkhana

Vidhyarthi Sansad Prepares an action plan and participates in gymkhana activities such as sports, indoor games, cultural activities, debating, social services, social gathering etc. In spite of busy semester schedule, students participate actively in these activities and bring laurels to the institute. Voluntary blood donation camp is a regular feature in the institute. In this year, indoor sports activity is introduced in room no(020) which includes a 4-station multi-gym, table tennis tables, and other sports equipment.

Student Stores

To sell stationery, calculators, tools, and instruments at reasonable rates, a student’s stores are run on the campus. Moreover, there is a photocopying facility also.

Industrial Liaison

The institute is in constant liaison with major industries through expert lectures, testing consultancy projects, investigations, students training counting education programs, and seminars.

Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University (CEPT)

The Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology or CEPT University is a government university in Ahmedabad that offers various programs.  this is an educational institution in Ahmedabad that offers postgraduate and undergraduate programs in various areas. It is developed in the environment and related disciplines.

The Centre for Environment Planning & Technology was established by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) in the year 1962 as a School of Architecture. This was followed by the School of Planning in 1972, School of Building Science in 1982 and Technology and School of Interior Design in 1991.  not to mention that the aid from the Government of Gujarat, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, and from the Ford Foundation was a major factor and establishment of this university.

The institute was autonomous until the year 2002 and awarded to diplomas on its own. Also, it was recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). CEPT was affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University from the year 2002 to 2005. It was in the year 2005 that CEPT became a University. This was done through the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology University Act, 2005. Also in the year 2010, through CEPT University Act, 2010, the college was renamed “CEPT University”

The library at CEPT offers various services. Namely Membership, Journals and Periodicals, Online Journals, Online Catalogue, and NewsLetter. It also has photocopying facility available. The online public access catalog is available for library books, theses, students’ works, and bound periodicals. It also has Reading room facility for students. The library is responsible for maintenance of the library and the books.

Workshops

Workshops are an integral part of the university. They support learning through hands-on experiments,  exploring the materials, and model making. the workshop has faculties get a dedicated to training in  Wood, Metal, Ceramic, Textile, Model-making and a Fabrication-Lab.  not to mention that the workshop is equipped with CNC machines that include a laser cutter, 3-axis milling machine, 3D printer, Electric kilns, Weaving looms, a wide array of traditional metal and woodworking machinery and a range of power and hand tools. The technicians and faculty in the workshop in Stockton guys to design the use of these pieces of equipment so that they can bring like to the projects and ideas.

Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN)

The Indian Institute of technology Gandhinagar was added into Institute of Technology  (Amendment) Act, 2011.  this act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012.  the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (also known as IIT Gandhinagar or IITGN)  is located in Gandhinagar Gujarat India has one of the Government colleges of Gujarat.  it is declared as Institute of the national importance of the Government of India as every other IIT.  it is a public engineering institution located in Gandhinagar it is one of the best government colleges of Gujarat.

IITG initially begin its operations from the temporary campus that was located at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Chandkheda. In its initial stages, the college was mentored by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. The three programs that were taught to the first batch of the students admitted at IITG were Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering.

The permanent campus of IIT Gandhinagar is now situated at the bank of Sabarmati river in the palaj village.  the state government decided to give the land on 99 release for the setup of the campus of IIT Gandhinagar. This was done with the token amount of just 1 Rupee for the setting up of campus.  this was declared speech at the Amalthea technology summit by then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The institute took possession of over 400 acres of land in August 2012. Though the classes and other activities on the new campus began in July 2015.

The campus of IIT Gandhinagar offers an undergraduate program of Bachelor of Technology. A  five-week immersion program was inaugurated for all the new undergraduate students being admitted to the 2011 batch.  the program to foster creativity, ethics, communication skills, teamwork, social engagement, and physical fitness to students.

Students take 20% of coursework through Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as few courses like humanities and the social sciences, are compulsory. Not to mention the fact that in April 2013 the curriculum of IIT Gandhinagar was awarded world education Award 2013 for the innovation higher education. Admission

Admission to the courses offered by IIT Gandhinagar is through the Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). The IIT JEE Score is required for students applying for the Bachelors of Technology program. The admission to Masters and Ph.D. studies in various fields of engineering, sciences and humanities, and social sciences is through written test and/or interviews.

Tech Fest

The annual tech fest of IIT Gandhinagar is known as IGNITE. It was first held in the 2014-15 academic year which is a state-level technological exhibition for students. This fest is a stage for students and faculty to showcase technical ideas through exhibitions and live demonstrations. For those 120 students that work on various projects throughout the year, Ignite acts as a finale for all. IGNITE instills a competitive spirit and desire for more innovations.

The latest edition of the tech fest, IGNITE 3.0, was a huge hit among students all over the state, and included prototyping workshops, technical debates and quizzes, Bot Wars, Hand Sensing interactive sessions, and hands-on science challenges. Marquee events included Air Shows, Lab Tours, Project Expo, and 3-D printing workshops.

Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology

The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology or CIPET center in the state of Gujarat was established at Ahmedabad in the year 1984. This was done to cater the need of Plastics industries in the Western part of the country. Institute of Infrastructure Technology Research and Management (IITRAM) is a state university located in located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. IITRAM was established by the Government of Gujarat, through Institute Of Infrastructure, Technology, Research, And Management Act, 2012. IITRAM was inaugurated by former Deputy PM of India and Lok Sabha MP from Gandhinagar LK Advani Ji.

Vishwakarma Government Engineering College

When are the Government Engineering College in Gujarat is the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College VGEC? The colleges also are known as Government Engineering College, Chandkheda (GEC Chandkheda).  It is situated at Chandkheda, in Ahmedabad city, India. The college affiliated to Technical University.  The college of out of  M. S. Building, Sector 11, Gandhinagar when it was established in 1994. The then former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi,  inaugurated the new campus in 2005.

Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, Ahmedabad was established in August 1994. This was done with an objective of imparting higher education in various fields of engineering and technology. All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi recognizes this institute. Commissionerate of Technical Education, Gujarat State, Gandhinagar administered the college and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University.

In 1994, during the establishment of VGEC, the college had only three departments – Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering and Chemical Engineering. It was in the year 2005 inter college hostel to that its new campus at Chandkheda, Ahmedabad.

VGEC has very complex building structure named according to Alphabet from A to N. VGEC college have two boys hostel and one girl’s hostel which are situated in the campus. GTU building is on the VGEC college campus. VGEC campus also has Two cricket ground, one football ground, one basketball court for sports. Also, there is big open ground behind GTU college which was used for ATV competition.
