Coy, 49, who shared his wife Heather’s children Case, Ty, Elle, and Jett, died early Sunday morning. The announcement was made by Joe Gibbs Racing.
Following his son’s victory, Coy spoke to media about the pleasure he had as he saw his son be proclaimed the champion. J.D Gibbs, Coy’s brother, died in 2019 from a neurological ailment, and Joe Gibbs has now lost both of his children, with whom he led his NASCAR operation.

Case Gibbs is one of the late Coy Gibbs’ four children. Despite coming from a famed racing family, the teenager has remained out of the public eye.

Case and his family had celebrated his older brother Ty’s success on November 5, but the Gibbs family experienced a terrible tragedy a few hours later with the death of Coy Gibbs.
In the early hours of the morning, the Gibbs family issued the following statement: “‘It is with great sadness that Joe Gibbs Racing confirms that Coy Gibbs (co-owner) passed away last night in his sleep,’ the organization said in a statement.
The family appreciates all of the well-wishes and prayers and requests privacy at this time.”

17-year-old Case Gibbs is a PDS Chargers player. Case has been a member of the Province Day Chargers baseball team since he was in elementary school.

Heather captioned the photo of Case and his pal Austin with their home-run ball, “Austin and Case hit their first home runs. What a fantastic game. I enjoy seeing how well this team works together!”

Ty Gibbs Career
Ty started Shifter Karts at GoPro Motorplex at the age of 13 in the summer of 2015. He won the IceBreaker 125 Late Model Stock event in 2019 while driving the No. 18 for Nelson Motorsports.
Ty also raced in the CARS Late Model Stock series with Marlowe Racing in 2017 and 2018, finishing 14th in the season points standings in 2017 and 8th in 2018. Ty won two pole positions, led 90 laps, and finished with a 13.3 average at Anderson Motor Speedway.
Ty won his maiden career race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on September 21, 2019, in his sixth start. The next year, he would race in the ARCA Menards Series East. Ty raced the No. 18 for Joe Gibbs Racing and led 104 laps at Dover before collapsing late and earning his only DNF of the season.
Ty made four starts in the 2021 season. In all four races, he won the pole position and the race, and he ended ninth in the standings.
Ty made his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West debut at ISM Raceway in the 2019 season finale. Later that year, he returned to compete in the same event, this time with JGR using their owner points. He led the most laps throughout the race but finished second. He ran both races in Phoenix in 2021. Ty won both events after starting on the pole. In March, he won a companion event to the main ARCA Menards Series race, leading 124 of 150 laps and all 100 laps. In November, he competed in the West Series season finale. Ty competed 11 of 20 ARCA Menards Series races in 2019, finishing 13th in the standings following victories at Salem and Gateway. The next year, he competed in 16 of 20 races and finished fifth overall, with victories at Pocono, Gateway, Kentucky, Winchester, Iowa, and Memphis.
Ty will be 18 on October 4, 2020, putting him eligible for all ARCA races (including Talladega and Daytona). Furthermore, in the 2021 series, he raced full-time in the JGR No. 18 and finished fourth at Daytona. Ty also finished 27th after winning at Phoenix and Talladega. In May, he led every lap in the race at Kansas, becoming the first driver in the series to do it since 2012.

Ty won in overtime over Austin Cindric on the Daytona Road Course, becoming the sixth driver to win in their Xfinity debut. Ty will make his NASCAR Cup Series (2022) debut at Pocono on July 24th, 2022, driving the No. 45 vehicle as a fill-in for Kurt Busch, the original driver. Ty finished 16th in the race, and three days later, it was revealed that he would step in for Kurt in the Verizon 200 at Indianapolis, finishing 17th. Furthermore, at the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan, he finished 10th, but the following week at Richmond, he finished 36th due to an engine problem. Ty finished 13th and 26th in the final two regular season races at Daytona and Watkins Glen, filling in for Kurt.
