On January 19, 1971, Eric Anthony Mangini entered this world in Hartford, Connecticut. In his hometown of Bulkeley, he attended Bulkeley High School.

From 1985 through 1989, Mangini was a linebacker for the Berkeley Bulldogs. He played for the team from 1985 until 1989.

Both in the classroom and on the football field, Mangini was a standout student and athlete.

As a senior in 1988, he was recognized as the Athlete of the Year, the Scholar Athlete of the Year, and received the Brian Piccolo Award for outstanding achievement in athletics.

Between the years 1989 and 1993, Eric Mangini pursued his education at Wesleyan University, which is located in Middleton, Connecticut.
