1. International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)

The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) is an information technology research university based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was the first autonomous private institute of its kind to be established in 1998. The institute runs Computer Science courses and research projects and is focused on research.

IIIT Hyderabad was set up in 1998 under the public private partnership model, where the state government supplying a grant of land and buildings. As Special officer for IIIT Hyderabad and Secretary IT for the state government, Mr Ajay Prakash Sawhney was responsible for shaping the conceptual model and overseeing initial development of the institute. Rajeev Sangal designed the syllabus and served as the first director of the institute until 10 April 2013.

The institute is in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, which is about 20 km from the old city and the central railway station. It is close to Knowledge center HITEC City, which houses Microsoft, Oracle Corporation, IBM, Facebook, Qualcomm Motorola, Capgemini and Infosys.

Academics and Admissions

IIIT Hyderabad offers undergraduate, postgraduate and dual degree programmes. Undergraduate programmes award either Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) or B.Tech (Honors) in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Civil Engineering, while postgraduate programmes award either Master of Technology (M.Tech), Master of Science (MS) or Master of Philosophy (M.Phil).

Dual degree programmes award B.Tech/MS. The dual degrees offer MS in Computer Science, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computational Natural Science, Building sciences [MS in specialized courses of civil], Computational Linguistics and Exact Humanities along with a B.Tech in Computer Science. PhD degrees and post graduate diplomas are also given. IIIT Hyderabad also offers MSIT program in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, USA. The institute lays a great importance on “Human Values” and professional ethics.

Admission to undergraduate programmes is based on one of five acceptance modes, namely Joint Entrance Examination (Main) (JEE (Main)), the institute’s own Undergraduate Engineering Entrance Examination (UGEE) and interview, representing India in the International Olympiads during class XI and XII (including International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO), International Biology Olympiad (IBO), International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO), International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL) / Paninian Linguistics Olympiad (PLO)), Direct Admissions for Students Abroad (DASA) and lateral entry admissions to dual-degree programmes through entrance examination and interview.

Admissions for postgraduate studies are on the basis of the Postgraduate Entrance Exam (PGEE) conducted by IIIT Hyderabad. Admissions to the MSIT programme run at this institute are based on a test conducted every year from April to May.

Facilities at IIIT – Hyderabad

The area of the institute campus is 66 acres (approx. 267,000 m²). There are four buildings that house the corporate schools and research centers. In addition to this, the academic building has the lecture halls, tutorial rooms, computer and electronics labs and offices of the administration and faculty. The buildings are named after the mountain ranges, Nilgiri, Vindhya, and Himalaya.

All students are provided hostel rooms. First-year and second-year students, who have enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Dual-Degree program, are required to share rooms (double occupancy) whereas from the third-year onwards, the students have single occupancy. The institute has a Guest House with four air-conditioned suites. Two hostels for men and one for women have a total of about 1200 rooms. There is an optical fiber network connecting all buildings on campus including the hostels.

The institute has air-conditioned computer laboratories, allocated batch-wise to students. The PC-to-students ratio is about 1:2. All computers are part of an intranet (1 Gbit/s Backbone). The institute has high bandwidth (100 Mbit/s) Internet connectivity round the clock. Students undertaking research can access computational facilities 24/7. All the notices and information are sent over the campus email. From couriers to mess registration, everything is notified via specific portals(internal sites). Some areas of the institute, like a few parts of the Boys’ Hostel, Nilgiri and Library are connected by Wi-Fi.

IIIT-H also hosts T-Hub, which is said to be India’s biggest incubation center, in collaboration with Indian School of Business and Nalsar University of Law. Its aim is to provide a supportive environment, along with financial and mentorship support to new startups in the region.

2. Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering

Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering (BVCoE) is a private engineering college in Navi Mumbai, India. The college was established in the year 1990 and is located in CBD Belapur. The college was founded by the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University group. The college is permanently affiliated to University Of Mumbai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE), New Delhi.

Though the college is in CBD Belapur, it is closer to Kharghar station on Harbour Railway line. BVCoE is located in a very beautiful place surrounded by hills and the Panvel creek. The college is on Sion-Panvel Highway, and a couple of kilometers away from Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Due to its location in Navi Mumbai, it has a lot of places for the students to hang out. Eligibility Criteria

Maharashtra State candidate and OMS candidates for admission first year of degree courses in Engineering / Technology, must be an Indian national and should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra state Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 50% marks, i.e., 150 marks out of 300 marks (minimum 45% mark, i.e., 135 mark out of 300 marks in case of candidates of Backwards class categories belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together and obtained non zero score in Physics Chemistry and Mathematics.

Festival

The annual cultural fest, called ‘ABHIYAAN’ is celebrated each year along with a technical fest around mid-march. Also, a separate sports fest is also held where different colleges participate.

3. College of Engineering Pune (COEP)

College of Engineering, Pune (COEP) is an autonomous engineering institute affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University in Pune, Maharashtra, India. The college was established in 1854, it is one of the oldest engineering colleges in Asia, after College of Engineering, Guindy Chennai (1794) and IIT Roorkee (1847). The students and alumni of College of Engineering, Pune are colloquially referred to as COEPians. The college’s study model was referred to, in the early 1950s, as the “Poona Model”.College of Engineering, Pune is located at the confluence of the rivers Mula and Mutha.

4. Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering

Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering is an engineering college in Pimpri-Chinchwad, India. Established in 1984 as a polytechnic school, it converted into a degree-awarding college in 1999. This is the second college in Pune University that has started working in two shifts. Apart from the regular 180, Mechanical, Computer and Electronics and Telecommunication Departments have 60 students each in the second shift.

HINDUSTAN AEROSPACE & ENGINEERING is engineering college in Pune. The college is run by Kohinoor Educational Services Pvt.Ltd and this is approved by Director General of Civil Aviation, (Govt. of India). The approval is for the three years course in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering at Pune Center. Training is based as per the DGCA syllabus. Application Forms Properly & Correctly filled in block letters should be sent along with a Registration fee of Rs. 20,000 /- Candidate seeking admission to the course should attach the following documents with the Application form.

Shashib Scholarship and Aptitude Test is the Entrance Test. This is the principle adopted by the authority of the Institute while providing admission to the selected candidates. In case a candidate deserves admission but due to the unavailability of seats he is not admitted, in such case, the student can reserve their seat for the next session by depositing prescribed fees in advance to secure their seats.

In case a student does not receive any information regarding his or her admission within 20 days after the submission of complete application form, he or she should immediately get in touch with the Institute authority either personally or through correspondence.

6. Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology

The Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, in Pune, India, was founded by the Modern Education Society of Pune. The Society itself was started by Prin. V. K. Joag, an eminent educationist, and Sir Cusrow Wadia, a well-known industrialist. The Institute made a humble beginning in 1938 when it set up the Department of Applied Electricity. Since then the Institute has made rapid progress and today it is a full-fledged polytechnic educational center with a multifarious activity under its umbrella.

He gave handsome donations and help to build our Institute which proudly and rightly bears his name. It was said of him, that he was so liberal that he was known as the “Chronic Philanthropist”. He was so much interested in the welfare of its students that he used to invite and bring dignitaries to visit the institute to meet and talk to them. 7. AISSMS College of Engineering

There are various events that take place on the campus of AISSMS.

Engineering Today (ET): A technical event Engineering Today (AISSMS ET) is organized every year on Engineer’s Day (15 September). Engineering students from all over the country exhibit their talent by participating in various competitions. Around 30 technical competitions are organized in collaboration.

Ashwamedh is the annual event that is organized Every year at the educational complex. Engineering students from all over state exhibit participate in this. Shivanjali is an annual Social Gathering and Excellence Award Ceremony which is organizes at AIIMS. Shivaji Trophy is a State level Inter-Collegiate T-20 Cricket tournament, held on the occasion of Shivaji Jayanti at the educational complex.

Apart from the above mentioned start-level competitions, AIIMS holds various Inter-collegiate competitions. These are the Inter-college sports competitions organized by the University of Pune. They also have a Blood donation camp and health check-up which is at AIIMS for the last sixteen years. The camp is organized in association with Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (AFMC) and Sassoon Hospital.

8. College of Military Engineering

This next great engineering colleges in Pune is the College of Military Engineering (CME). This is a premier technical and tactical training institution that includes Combat Engineers, Military Engineering Service, Border Roads Organisation and Survey. CME is the college of the Indian Army Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army.

Location

The location of CME is at Dapodi on NH 4 that is adjacent to the Khadki cantonment. This cantonment is a large army base that is situated in Pune district which is in the north of the Pune city. CME was established in 1943 and was initially called as School of Military Engineering (SME) at Roorkee. The college plays an important role in research projects and experimentation and also as an advisory role to the Indian Army. It also imparts training to Indian army officers and those from friendly countries.

The officers of Corps of Engineers were trained at the Royal School of Military Engineering, the United Kingdom before the establishment of College of Military Engineering at Pune. During the time period of 1934 and 1943, the officers of Corps of Engineers were trained at Thompson College of Engineering, Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee.

Also, at Roorkee, the School of Military Engineering (SME) in 1943 was set up to impart combat engineering training to officers. Not to mention that SME continued to depend on Thomason College for technical training. This was set up during the World War II and post-independence in 1948, SME moved to Dapodi in Pune, its present location.
