Ishe Smith Married Valarie Lopez After Taking Divorce With Latoya Woolen

Ishe Smith’s first wife and childhood sweetheart was Latoya Woolen. They divorced in the mid-2000s, and the boxer nearly lost his life as a result.
Latoya Woolen and Ishe Smith’s marriage had begun well. The fighter, who was in his early twenties at the time, was a rising star. Booked and busy is a good way to describe the fighter who was getting closer to prominence than ever before.

Latoya Woolen Passed Away Three Days After Her 39th Birthday
Latoya Woolen, Ishe Smith’s first wife, died three days after her 39th birthday. On March 19, 2017, she was fatally shot by Frank Campis.
Latoya Woolen was born on March 16, 1978, to Larry and Delterica Woolen. She was a Christian who was determined to serve others. Crystal Woolen, her sister, and Christopher Woolen, her brother, were her two siblings.
Her funeral took place at Davis Funeral Home, 1401 S. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas.

2014
Smith was slated to face Erislandy Lara, but instead faced Ryan Davis on May 2, 2014, as Lara chose to challenge Sal “Canelo” lvarez directly. At the end of the second round, Smith knocked Davis out.
2013
Smith took a stay-busy bout soon after the Guerrero fight, which he easily won. He took a long break, during which he remained in the press mostly through numerous boxing mailbags: commenting on the sport for websites like BoxingScene and BoxingTalk. He also worked as a sparring instructor for numerous camps.
After a more than a year and a half layoff, Smith returned to the ring in May 2012 against Ayi Bruce, winning easily via 4th round TKO at 154 lbs, and then on September 8 defeated Irving Garcia for his second straight 154 lb division victory, earning him his first world title challenge for Contender Season 2 Bronze medalist Cornelius Bundrage’s IBF 154 lb belt on February 23, 2013.
On February 23, 2013, Ishe Smith defeated Cornelius Bundrage by unanimous decision to become the new IBF junior middleweight title. Smith was defeated by Carlos Molina in a split decision on September 14, 2013.
Many analysts regarded the bout as a dull affair devoid of genuine action, particularly on Smith’s part. Two judges scored Molina’s bouts 116-112 and 117-111, while one judge scored Ishe’s bout 116-112.
2009
Smith was defeated by Danny Jacobs on August 22, 2009, although he had his moments and was a crowd favourite. Also, Smith had stepped up to Middleweight to take on Jacobs.
Smith promised to return to Jr Middleweight and challenge for the title, but his next bout came at middleweight on July 16, 2010 in Memphis, Tennessee against Fernando Guerrero, an explosive southpaw Middleweight prospect.
2008
On April 30, 2008, Smith lost a razor-thin decision to Joel Julio. Julio outworked Smith in the early rounds, but Smith came on strong in the second half of the battle to keep the fight intriguing. Julio then lost his next two fights, both by TKO.
Smith returned to the ring on August 1, 2008, and defeated the previously undefeated Pawel Wolak by unanimous decision. He delivered, outboxing the relatively sluggish Wolak in one of his most consistent performances, describing the fight as “a do or die, must win situation.” He then won a workmanlike unanimous decision over Chris Gray in a busy bout.
2007
On February 17, 2007, Smith faced Sechew Powell, a junior middleweight contender, and lost a unanimous decision, potentially ending his aspirations of a title opportunity. Despite landing a knockdown, Smith lost the fight. Many of Powell’s hometown fans booed the decision as it was announced. Powell received eight out of ten rounds from the judges.
The battle was slow since neither man wanted to let his hands go much, therefore the booing could have been due to the contest’s uninspiring character.
2006 Smith appeared on a fight card promoted by Bernard Hopkins on ESPN Friday Night Fight on June 7, 2006, when he outclassed his opponent Patrick Thompson over 10 rounds to win a unanimous decision. He competed at 154 pounds in the junior middleweight division, which is thought to be a good place for developing fighters.
2004
In 2004, Smith won his first three belts (WBC Continental Welterweight title, WBO NABO Welterweight title, and USBA Welterweight title) by a disputed unanimous decision over previous world champion Randall Bailey.

Smith was a promising young fighter who won his first fourteen fights against mostly tough competition. In 2001, he faced Alfonso Gomez in his fourth professional fight (Alfonso’s second). Smith won a four-round fight by controversial unanimous decision (owing to a low-blow penalty against Gomez that was incorrectly called).
Later that year, he won a unanimous decision over Norberto Bravo. Most notably, he demolished David “King” Estrada, a fellow bright prospect at the time, by a wide unanimous decision in 2003.
1996
Smith was raised in Nevada by his mother and brothers but never met his father. Smith competed on the national scene as an amateur for many years. In 1996, he reached the finals of the US National Championships, where he lost on points to Héctor Camacho Jr., and the semifinals of the US Olympic trials, where he lost on points to Zab Judah.
In 1999, he lost on points to Larry Mosley in the quarterfinals of the US National Championships. Mosley went on to win the competition.
