France Gareau and Sean Foudy, Liam Foudy’s parents, both had successful athletic careers in their youth. Liam became interested in sports as a child after observing their abilities in their different games.

His father and mother have always been his rock throughout his childhood as he worked to improve his ice hockey skills.

Gareau, Foudy’s mother, was a professional sprinter who earned a silver medal for the Canadian relay team at the 1984 Summer Olympics.

She also won relay medals at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and the 1993 Summer Universiade. She has also won two medals at the Francophone Games.

Meanwhile, Liam’s father, Sean, spent six seasons as a defensive back in the Canadian Football League. He also competed in track and field for five years, from 1986 to 1991.

He sprints like a sprinter and has a good physique because he is the son of an Olympic champion. Following his parents’ advice, Liam was selected 18th overall by the London Knights in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection. He made his OHL debut with the Knights on September 21, 2016.

At the 2016 OFSAA Championship, he won both the 100m and 300m hurdles, earning a double gold medal. His accomplishment mirrored his father’s childhood experience of winning gold at OFSAA.

In March 2019, the Foudy brothers faced off against each other during the OHL playoff series between the London Knights and the Windsor Spitfires.

Liam was a Knights player at the time, while his brother Jean-Luc was a Windsor Spitfires centre. Because their parents were so thrilled about the match, they flew directly from Toronto to London.

When asked who would win the match, Mr. Sean responded as a strategist that Knight might win the series, adding that the younger Jean-Luc still has several years ahead of him.

Sean’s youngest son, Jean-Luc, is a member of the Colorado Avalanche. The team selected him 75th overall in the third round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

While Liam brings greater puck muscle to the net, his brother possesses a more distinct playmaking and set-up approach in the attacking zone.
