The three Jewish brothers recently made history when they became the first family in the history of the United States to have three siblings all be drafted into the National Hockey League (NHL) in the first round.

This was solidified on July 23, when the youngest brother Luke, a defender, was selected fourth overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

His older brothers Quinn, who was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in 2018 with the seventh overall pick, and Jack, who was selected by the New Jersey Devils in 2019 with the first overall pick, came before him in the draft.

Luke Hughes: Biography

After playing for the national program at the under-17 and under-18 levels, the youngest Hughes sibling moved on to compete in the NCAA.

He followed in the footsteps of his older brothers Quinn and Jack. The Devils selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, which occurred prior to his first year of college play at Michigan.

His first year at Ann Arbor was nothing short of spectacular for him. With 17 goals, he finished third on the squad and topped all defensive players in the NCAA.

Additionally, his 39 points ranked third on the squad. He was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team, the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year squad, and the Big Ten second team All-Big Ten team.
