The 18th of February in 2015, after nearly a month had passed, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office made the arrests that led to the charges against Michael Reese’s wife, Cindy Kaye Henderson Reese, as well as Jeffrey David Brown.

Michael Reese: Who Was He?
Michael Earl Reese, who was born on July 5, 1974 and grew up in Morris, Alabama, has a successful life.
He surrounded himself with friends and family, and in 2009, when he realized that he loved Cindy Kaye Henderson and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, he married her.
He had previously surrounded himself with friends and family. The next almost six years seemed to be filled with happiness for them, but on the evening of February 18, 2015, Michael’s body was discovered in the home that the couple shared on Banks Street. Since then, everything has been turned upside down.
Cindy was the one who called 911, and the only reason she did so was because she saw that their coffee table was in the wrong position when she returned home from going grocery shopping.
She apparently never saw her husband lying dead by the back door because she believed there had been a robbery and instantly sought for assistance.
After arriving at the scene, the detectives saw the table, the open rear door, and the body of Michael, who was covered in blood and lying directly in the doorway.
They did start to become suspicious, but they persisted in carrying out their process even though there was nothing else that appeared to be out of place.

The investigators then sent the body to be examined by a pathologist, investigated and photographed the murder scene, and searched for forensic evidence; but, given that nothing else appeared to be out of place, they began to develop a sense of unease.
In addition, it was said that Michael was killed by a single bullet to the head at close range, which led to the conclusion that Michael’s death was the result of a homicidal act.
Cindy Reese, who was married to Michael Reese, and Jeffery Brown, who was a local minister at the time, were both arrested approximately a month into the investigation in relation to the slaying.
Cindy Reese was Michael Reese’s wife. The investigation unearthed the fact that the victim’s wife had been carrying on an affair with the pastor for a considerable amount of time, beginning in 2013.
Brown served as a senior pastor at the Sardis Baptist Church, and the relationship between the two families was quite close.
On the evening of February 18, it is thought that Cindy shot Michael and then proceeded to a Piggly Wiggly to buy groceries before coming home to the scene of the murder.
She then attempted to create the scene, making it look like a robbery by turning the coffee table over and then called 911. She did this to make it appear as though she had been robbed.

Michael Reese’s Wife Had An Extra-Marital Affair
His obituary stated that Cindy and Michael Reese had been married for five years when he passed away. After her first husband committed suicide, Cindy Reese and her new spouse eventually got together.
He was Cindy’s second husband. According to a report from the Mirror, the couple led a quiet existence up until 2013, when Brown was appointed as the senior pastor of their church.
Both members of the pair were active participants in the local church.
It was subsequently uncovered by other officials in the church that Brown and Cindy Reese, who was in charge of the music at the church, had begun an affair together.
Brown resigned from his position before the news spread to the rest of the community, and it is unknown whether Michael Reese was aware of his wife’s extramarital affair or not.
According to the publication, Cindy Reese provided monetary assistance to Brown when he resigned from his role as pastor, allowing him to pay for his vehicle and accommodation.
Michael Reese (Murder Case): Trial And Investigation
During the course of Reese’s trial, both she and Brown told the court various versions of what happened before and after their arrests.
Brown, in addition to Reese, was charged with murder in connection with the shooting death that occurred in 2015; however, Brown entered a guilty plea to manslaughter in 2016.
According to an article that was published on AL.com at the time, Brown was given a sentence of twenty years in jail and agreed to testify against Reese during her trial in exchange for his guilty plea.
Cindy Reese repeatedly expressed her desire to have her husband murdered, and Brown stated in his testimony for the prosecution that she once requested him to find a hitman for her.
According to a report from the trial, Brown testified that he did attempt to employ two individuals; however, both of them declined his offer. In addition, he stated in his testimony that Reese constantly brought up the possibility of killing her husband with poison.
The former pastor denied having a sexual relationship with Reese and stated that such rumors are false.
During the course of the trial, Reese testified that she loved her husband and that she did not wish for him to pass away.
She confirmed that she had an affair with Brown, but she said that Brown became unhappy with her because she would not divorce her husband.
During her trial, she testified that Brown ambushed Michael Reese and shot him dead after first hiding in the backyard of their home and waiting for him there. The publication reported on her testimony.
