Michael Ray Wilbon was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1958. Michael was raised on the South Side by working-class parents and graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory School in 1976.
Following high school, he attended at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. He eventually earned a journalism degree in 1980.
Also, he wrote for the school newspaper, “The Daily Northwestern,” during his college years. He went on to become a trustee at Northwestern University.
And, he obtained a journalism degree from Northwest University. He began his sports media career by writing for the Washington Post. In 1990, he was hired as a regular columnist for the journal.
