VK Singh

  • Railway officer Vinay Kumar Singh on February 21, 2016 chosen for the post of Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), the implementing agency’ for the three corridors of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RETS) in the NCR zone.
  • Currently Singh is with the RVNL. a railway’ PSU, and is involved in the study of high speed rail corridors. NCRTC will execute three rapid rail corridors to Panipat. Meerut and Alwar from the capital at an estimated cost of Rs 72170 crore.

Udai Kumar

  • Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (formerly MCX Stock Exchange) has appointed its interim Managing Director & CEO Udai Kumar as MD & CEO on February 22,2016 after receiving necessary approvals from securities regulator, the SEBI.
  • He will take over the helm at the exchange in early December, 2016. The SEBI approval comes after a stringent short-listing process and interviews by the Selection Commit tee to select a suitable candidate for the rale.
  • A veteran of the capital and financial markets, Kumar has over two decades of rich experience in stock exchange administration, capital markets, fund-raising, restructuring and merger arid acquisition functions.

Vineet Saran

  • Justice Vineet Satan will be the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. A Presidential warrant of appointment of Justice Saran issued on February 20, 2016. The new CJ took oath of his new assignment on February 26, 2016.
  • Prior to this. Justice Saran was officiating as a senior judge of Karnataka High Court.
  • The post of Orissa Chief Justice was lying vacant ever since Justice DH Waghda took over as the CJ of Bombay High Court in February 15. 2016. Justice Pradeep K. Mohan tv was officiating as acting CJ here since then.

Faustin-Archange Touadera

  • Former Central African Republic prime minister Faustin-Archange Touadera has won a presidential nm-off on February 20, 2016. It was widely seen as a step towards reconciliation after years of violent turmoil.
  • a former mathematics professor who campaigned against corruption, won 62.71% of votes cast in the February 14, 2016 election, as per the initial results announced by National Elections Authority’ (ANE) President Marie- Madeleine Nkouet.
  • Central African Republic, one of the world’s most chronically unstable countries, suffered the worst crisis in its history in early 2013 when mainly Muslim Seleka fighters toppled President Francois Bozize.

  • Distinguished scientist KN Vyas was appointed Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BAJRC), the country’s premier multi-disciplinary nuclear research centre on February 19, 2016.
  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Vyas’ name for a period of three years.
  • He succeeded Shekar Basil, who was in October. 2015 appointed as Atomic Energy Secretary’ and Chairman of Atomic Energy Commission. He is currently working as the Associate Director at BARC.
  • who has made outstanding contributions in the area of design and development of a novel fuel is a recipient of the Science and Technical Excellence awards.

Kalikho Pul

  • Dissident Congress leader Kalikho Pul has been swom-in as the 9tlt Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19. 2016.
  • He was administered the oath by governor KP Rajkhowa at a ceremony at the Raj Bhawan in ltanagar.
  • A former Finance and Health Minister of the State, Pul represented the Hayuliang assembly constituency was elected as the leader of the house and the Chief Minister by the rebel Congress MLAs, BJP MLAs and two Independents in a assembly session.
  • The assembly session had been held at an auditorium as a make-shift venue on December 17. 2015. The session was boycotted by supporters of former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki of the Congress, after whose ouster President’s Rule had been imposed.

Christine Lagarde

  • The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) selected Christine Lagarde on February 19, 2016 to serve as IMF Managing Director for a second five-year term starting on July 5, 2016.
  • Before her appointment at the IMF in 2011, Ms. Lagarde, a national of France, served as Minister of Finance and Minister for Foreign Trade of France and had an extensive and noteworthy career as an anti-trust and labor lawyer.
  • During turbulent times in the global economy, Ms. Lagarde strengthened the Fund’s ability to support its members with policy advice, capacity building, and financing.
  • She has also played a critical role in revitalising the Fund’s relations with its global membership, including its emerging market and developing members.
