Durban Film Festival Awards
- Actor Adil Hussain won the top prize of Best Feature Film at the 37th Durban International Film Festival on June 29, 2016.
- The film was the only Indian film to feature in the competition, and film lead actor is Ritwick Chakroborty.
- The film directed by Ad filmmaker Bauddhayan Mukherji follows the story of a day in a Bollywood session violinist who finds expression in an unlikely place.
- As the day unfolds, it unearths startling truths about art, life, music and survival.
GD Birla Award
- IIT-Kanpur professor Sanjay Mittal received the prestigious GD Birla Award for Scientific Research for 2016 on June 23, 2016.
- He made a significant contribution to the development of finite element algorithms for High-Performance Computing (HPS) for which the award was given to him.
- Earlier, he also received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology.
- GD Birla Award for Scientific Research, instituted in 1991, seeks to recognise Indian scientists aged below 50 living and working in India for their outstanding contribution to any branch of science arid technology. It carries a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh.
