Pradeep Sarkar, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his directorial works “Parineeta” and “Mardaani,” passed away on Friday at Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra.1
Sarkar’s wife, Panchali, confirmed the sad news, revealing that he had been admitted to the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) after developing a fever.
Sarkar’s wife informed PTI that he passed away between 3.10 am and 3.30 am at Lilavati hospital. Sarkar had contracted viral fever on March 22, and after administering some medicines, his fever subsided but not completely.
As a result, he was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Upon arrival at the hospital, Sarkar’s condition worsened, and his vitals began to drop. Doctors diagnosed him with pneumonia and immediately put him on a ventilator in the ICU.
Unfortunately, Sarkar had many comorbidities that weakened his immunity, including fluctuating blood pressure. Panchali revealed that since Sarkar had contracted COVID-19 in July 2022, he had been quite weak.
Sarkar’s last rites will be held at Santacruz Hindu Crematorium at 4 pm.
