Mick Lizmore (Sarah Wilkes Husband) Is A Curling Coach

Mick Lizmore, Sarah Wilkes’ husband, is a curling Head Coach and Performance Consultant.

Lizmore joined the Curling Canada team in 2019, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mick received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Alberta.

Mick had a successful curling career before becoming a coach. He began his career in Ontario, where he joined the Jake Higgs team as a lead in 2008.

Many medals were bestowed upon him during his time in Alberta, including the 2012 CIS/CCA Curling Championships, the Red Deer Curling Classic, and the 2013 Boston Pizza Cup.

Lizmore founded his rink in 2014 with Parker Konschuh, Nathan Connolly, and Carter Lautner. The team advanced to the playoffs of the 2015 Boston Pizza Cup and went on to win the Shamrock Shotgun World Curling Tour.

Mick and his girlfriend, Sarah, won the 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Following his retirement, he transitioned into coaching.

Lizmore joined the wheelchair national curling team as an assistant coach and consultant in 2019. She won titles at the Canadian University Curling Championships and the Canadian Mixed Curling Championships. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was named head coach in May 2020.

Mick rejoined the para-sport in September 2022 as a wheelchair curling coach. In Beijing, he led Canada to its fifth consecutive Paralympic medal.

In Paralympic Games history, he took over one of Canada’s most successful wheelchair curling teams. He recently led the team to yet another bronze medal.

Career Of Sarah Wilkes

Wilkes played third for Clancy Grandy’s 2011 Ontario Junior Women’s Championship team as a junior curler. The team competed in the 2011 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, finishing with a 5-7 record.

Wilkes was a member of the Wilfrid Laurier University women’s curling team and played third. She competed in the 2010 CIS/CCA Curling Championships with Danielle Inglis’ team, losing in the semi-finals.

Laurier would go on to win the CIS/CCA Curling Championships in 2011 and 2012. The Canadian team competed in the 2013 Winter Universiade, but finished off the podium with a 4-5 round robin record.

Wilkes’ hometown is Scarborough, Ontario where she attended Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute. She also played softball while attending Laurier University. She is married to Mick Lizmore is qualifying to be a registered psychotherapist.

Married Life Of Sarah and Mick

Sarah and Mick have decided to exchange wedding vows on July 6, 2019.

The Canadian couple’s romance began when they were teammates on a curling team. They were members of the 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship winning team. They began hanging out as a couple in 2015, alongside Brad Thiessen and Alison Kotylak.

Wilkes, according to curlingdayincanada.ca, has said about her partner: “To have that kind of support, to be playing the best of the best alongside your closest friends on the other side of the world. It was truly unique.”

She went on: “Micky and I got engaged later that year. As you can imagine, with memories like those and countless more to come, curling has always felt like so much more than just a sport.”

Sarah accepted her best friend’s proposal on Christmas Day, January 2, 2018. She had posted a hilarious photo of them with the caption: “We’re back in Edmonton after a wonderful Christmas at home! I got the best surprise when I got to marry my best friend!”

The couple took their engagement photos five months after their engagement. Sarah has shared a collection of photos from their shoot at Scarborough Bluffs.

Sarah shared a family photo from her wedding day on February 21, 2022. There were over 20 people in the photo, including Sarah and Mike. Similarly, on July 7, 2019, she shared photos from the ceremony at the Distillery District.
