Cleo Robinson, Bijan Robinson’s grandfather, played linebacker for the college team he attended.

Cleo assumed the role of a father figure to him.

“Cleo is the only father figure he has ever known, and what kind of little boy would want to abandon their father?” Terri says.
The sport of football served as an early site of convergence.
When Bijan initially started playing flag football, he was either 5 or 6 years old. On his first two tries with the ball, he scored touchdowns by running in the wrong way.
He started imitating actions he watched on TV or during Cleo’s games, and he soon fell in love with Reggie Bush, whose number 5 he currently wears for Texas. He also began to show off skills he saw other people do. (Of course, Cleo had previously been a part of the renowned “Bush Push” game in 2005.)
Both Bijan and Terri were big fans of Cleo’s officiating and made it to many of the games she worked, especially those held at Arizona State University. Young Bijan would get so enthusiastic that it would impress the season ticket holders in their part of the stadium.
According to Terri, “it even got to the point where it was like four people and they’d swap off holding Bijan on their shoulders so that he could get a better view of the game.”
There were early indications of one of Bijan’s inherent assets, his vision, even before he began to develop a strong interest for the game itself.
When playing for Texas, he typically makes runs in a north-south direction, picks up short yards, and is rarely touched for a loss. When he first started playing tackle football, when he was 8 or 9 years old, his grandma observed that he had a talent for it.

In the year 2022, Bijan Robinson’s parents, Lamont and LaMore Sauls, have been married for ten years and are still very much in love.
