Linda Kasabian Death: Vital Witness Manson Family Member Died At Hospital

Kasabian was given immunity because she was a key witness in District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi’s case against Charles Manson and his followers for the 1969 murders.

This was true even though she was present at both the Tate and LaBianca killings. Kasabian was born on June 21, 1949, in Biddeford, Maine. Rolling Stone said in 2016 that she moved to Tacoma with her daughter in the late 1980s and lived “near poverty.”

Linda Kasabian: Death

Linda Kasabian, who was a member of Charles Manson’s notorious “Manson Family” gang, died at the age of 73.

Kasabian died in a hospital in Tacoma, Washington, on January 21. Even though her body was later burned, the cause of Linda Kasabian’s death has not been made public.

A death certificate that TMZ got says that Kasabian changed her last name to “Chiochios” later in life to protect her identity after she cut ties with the cult.

Kasabian agreed to be a key prosecution witness at Manson’s trial in 1970 and 1971 in exchange for immunity. He was part of the gang that killed seven people in “two nights of mayhem” in August 1969 in Los Angeles, California.

During her 18 days of testimony, Kasabian told the court how gang members Charles “Tex” Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Susan Atkins broke into the couple’s Benedict Canyon House on Cielo Drive and killed Sharon Tate, an actress who was eight months pregnant.

She said that while Mr. Polanski was in Europe making a movie, Watson, Krenwinkel, and Atkins shot and stabbed to death five people at the scene: Tate and her unborn son Paul, hairdresser Jay Sebring, coffee heiress Abigail Folger, her boyfriend Wojciech Frykowski, and Steven Parent, a friend of Tate’s groundskeeper.

Kasabian admitted that he was the driver on the second night of the attacks, but when Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were also killed in their house, he said he had nothing to do with that.

Due to Kasabian’s testimony, Manson and the other “Family” members who did what he said were found guilty of murder and given life sentences. In 2017, their boss died in prison after having a heart attack caused by colon cancer.

Linda Kasabian Life After Trail

By the time the verdicts were announced, Linda Kasabian was a well-known figure who had gotten both positive and negative attention from the news media because of their coverage of the Manson trial.

Kasabian and her husband soon moved back to New Hampshire with their kids to keep them out of the spotlight and raise them privately. She used to live in a hippie commune, and then she went to school to learn how to cook.

Kasabian was called back to Los Angeles County many times after the first trial. She gave evidence against Leslie Van Houten in her two retrials in 1977, and she also gave evidence against Tex Watson in his 1971 trial.

Kasabian was arrested for breaking several traffic laws before she was in an accident that left her partially disabled. The few members of the Manson “family” who are still alive made fun of Kasabian.

Even though Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme had broken off all ties with the Manson “family” by the time she tried to kill President Gerald Ford, the Secret Service kept an eye on her.

Linda Kasabian: Bio

Linda Darlene Drouin was born in Biddeford, Maine, on June 21, 1949. She was Rosaire Drouin and Joyce Taylor’s first child.1

Rosaire, her father, worked in construction, and the family had trouble making ends meet. Her parents got divorced when she was still young, and her mother remarried and moved to Miami, Florida, with her new husband.

Joyce, her mother, also remarried, but Linda did not like her stepfather Jake Byrd, who she said was mean to both her mother and herself.

Friends, neighbors, and teachers say that when Linda was young, she was smart, kind, shy, and a hopeless romantic.

Her troubled relationship with her stepfather led her to drop out of high school and leave home.

She married Robert Peasley when she was sixteen, but the marriage didn’t last long. After only a few months, it was over.

After that, she moved in with her father in Miami, where he worked as a bartender. Their attempts to make things better between them didn’t work.

In 1967, she got married again, this time to an Armenian-American hippie named Robert Kasabian. She met him in Boston. Tanya, their first daughter, was born in 1968.

This marriage didn’t work out either, so Linda Kasabian went back to New Hampshire to live with her mother.

Later, she joined Robert Kasabian in Hippie Hangouts of Topanga Canyon, Los Angeles, California, where he was friends with Charles Blackbeard Melton. She did this to give their marriage another chance.

Robert left her again to go sailing in South America while she was pregnant with their second child.

Charles Melton put her in touch with Catherine Gypsy Share, who was part of the Manson family. Since her marriage was falling apart, she decided to move in with her family on their run-down Spahn’s Ranch. She was looking for God, love, and freedom.

Linda Kasabian: Family

In October 1969, the Barker Ranch, where the “Family” had moved, was broken into. Everyone there was arrested for auto theft, but it didn’t take long to figure out that they were all involved in the killings.2

Two months later, Kasabian turned herself in, and she became the main witness for the prosecution. Her testimony was the most important reason why Manson and his followers were found guilty, and Kasabian was given immunity because of that.

After Kasabian moved to New Hampshire to live with her mother, the media and public were all over her. She changed her name and moved west, where she stayed hidden until 2009, when a documentary film crew found her living in a trailer park near poverty.

Linda Kasabian: Husband and Kids

She got married at 16 to Robert Peasley, but they split up soon after. She moved to Miami for a short time to be near her father, who was working as a bartender there, but they didn’t stay together for long. She moved to Boston, got married again, and had a daughter in 1968.3

When Linda’s second marriage to Robert Kasabian ended, she moved back to New Hampshire with her baby daughter Tanya to live with her mother. Kasabian felt like her husband Robert didn’t pay enough attention to her by the time she was expecting her second child. By the time Robert left for the South American sailing trip, she was already pregnant with her second child.

Involvement with murders

Kasabian said that on August 8, 1969, Manson told her to get a knife, a change of clothes, and her driver’s license, and then to go with Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, and Patricia Krenwinkel, three other family members, and do what Watson told her to do.

They went to 10050 Cielo Drive by car. Kasabian said that she saw Watson shoot and kill Steven Parent, a teen who had come to see William Garettson, the caretaker. Watson then told Kasabian to stay outside the house.

She stood by the car while Watson, Atkins, and Krenwinkel went inside and killed Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, and eight-months-pregnant Sharon Tate.

Kasabian said in court that she left the car when she heard the victims’ “terrible screams.” “I ran towards the house because I wanted them to stop. I knew what they had done to that man [Parent] and that they were killing these people. I wanted them to quit.”

As Kasabian walked up the driveway to the house, he saw Frykowski running out the front door. Kasabian said in her testimony, “There was a man just coming out of the door. His face was covered in blood, and he was standing by a post.

We looked into each other’s eyes for a minute, and I said, “Oh, God, I’m so sorry. Stop it, please.’ But he just fell to the ground and landed in the bushes.
