Who is Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani?

Al Thani was born in 1982 in Qatar. His father, Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, was the country’s former Prime Minister.

He left his home country to go to school in the United Kingdom. He went to the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst and graduated as an officer cadet.

After that, he went into business and has since worked as a board member and chairman for a number of companies and banks.

He is said to have been a fan of football and Man Utd for as long as he can remember. He wouldn’t be the first person in his family to work in the sport, either, since his father helped run PSG.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamal Al Thani’s Man Utd bid

Al Thani was thought to want to buy Man Utd for a long time.

He has confirmed that he and the Qatari group he is leading plan to own 100% of the Premier League club and put a lot of money into the training ground and stadium.

No information has been given about how much money has been offered to the Glazers, but it has been said that the offer is “free of all debt.”

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the British billionaire who owns INEOS, also put in a bid.

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamal Al Thani and the trouble he has caused

Because Al Thani is a member of Qatar’s royal family, his bid for the club has caused a lot of trouble.

The country has a bad track record when it comes to human rights. The way they treat migrant workers, women, and LGBTQ+ people is especially troubling.

This bid isn’t from the state-owned Qatar Sports Investment, which owns PSG. UEFA rules say that no one or group can fully own more than one club.

But since Al Thani is from Qatar, many people would still think that the country owns Man Utd as well.
