Trans-Tasman Trophy 2016

  • Australia won Trans-Tasman Trophy of Cricket against New Zealand and became World Number 1 in ICC Test ranking on February 24, 2016. It replaced India in the test rating by defeating New Zealand by 2-0 in two-match series.
  • First Test held at Wellington in which Australia won by an I innings and 52 runs. Player of the Match AC Voges (Australia)
  • Second Test, held at Christchurch in which.Brendon McCullum made a record breaking century jn 54 balls but still Australia won the Test by 7 wickets. Player of the Match JA Burns (Australia)

India-Sri Lanka Women’s ODI Series 2016

  • The Indian women cricket team won the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, 3-0 on February 1.9, 2016.
  • In the third and final match played in Ranchi, India defeated the Sri Lankan team by seven wickets.
  • Deepti Sharma, who played a pivotal role in steadying her side’s innings, was adjudged the Player of the Match.
  • Medium-pacer Deepti Sharma grabbed six wickets haul before Veda Krishnamurthy scored a half-century after India posted a comfortable sevcn-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third a’ftd final ODI.

Chappell-Hadlee ODI Trophy

  • New Zealand won the three-match Chappell-Hadlee Trophy of cricket against Australia, 2-1 on February 8, 2016.
  • This win of the Black Caps can be termed as the best farewell gift for Brendon McCullum who retired from One-Day International (ODI) cricket after the match. Player of the Series of this series was given to Martin GuptiU (New Zealand).
  • The Chappell-Hadlee Trophy in cricket is a One Day International cricket series between Australia and New Zealand.
  • It is named after legendary cricketing families from the two countries, the Chappell brothers (lan, Gregory, and Trevor) of Australia and Walter Hadlee and his three sons, (Barry, Dayle and Sir Richard), of New Zealand.

ICC U19 World Cup 2016

  • ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup title was won by the West Indies on February 14, 2016. In 2012, since Darren Sammy’s senior team won the ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka, it was the first major title for the West Indies at any level.
  • Man of the Match title was awarded to West Indies’ Keacy Carty and the Player of the Tournament was awarded to Mehidy Hasan Miraz from Bangladesh.
  • The 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament held in Bangladesh from January 22 to February 14, 2016. It was the 11th edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup. First contested in 1988.
