Nagjee International Club Tournament 2016

  • Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk Football Club (PC) of Ukraine has won the Sait Nagjee International Club Football Tournament 2016 played at the EMS Corporation stadium at Kozhikode (Kerala) on February 22, 2016 by defeating Brazilian FC Atletico Paranaense by 3-0 goals.
  • With this victory, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk became first European team to win this prestigious Football tournament. Hie Sait Nagjee International Club Football tournament was established in 1952 and since then it was very popular and had attracted large crowd.
  • Sait Nagjee International Club Football Tournament 2016 was the 36th edition of the tournament and the first edition after 1995 when it was stopped. In this edition, total 8 clubs from Latin America, Germany and Europe had participated.

MRF International Challenge

  • Pietro Fittipaldi (Brazil) clinched the MMSC FMSCI National Racing Championship and the 2015 MRF International Challenge series title at the MMRT track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai on January 31, 2016 by winning two of the four races.
  • With this victory, he earned in total 244 points to top among the other racers. Tatiana Calderon from Colombia stood at 2nd place with total 199 points. Nikita Troitckii from Russia was placed at 3rd position with a total 191 points.
  • 2015 MRF Challenge Formula 2000 Championship had started in October, 2015 at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. It comprised of total 14 races. This 4th edition of event concluded in January, 2016 at the Madras Motor Racing Track.

Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold 2016

  • Top seed K. Srikanth clinched the Syed Modi Grand Prix Gold title by defeating Huang Yuxiang (China) in the men’s singles final at Lucknow on January 31, 2016.
  • Say aka Sato (Japan) won the title in women’s singles category by defeating Sung Ji Hyun (South Korea).
  • Malaysian pair of Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong won the 2016 Syed Modi International Grand Prix Gold Championship Title in men’s doubles category by defeating Indian pair of Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar.
  • South Korean pair of Jung Kyung-eun and Shin Seung-chan won the title in women’s doubles category by defeating Eefje Muskens and Selena Piek from the Netherlands.
  • Indonesian pair Praveen Jordan and Deby Susanto won the title in mixed doubles category by defeating the Thai pair Puavaranukroh Dechapol and Sapisree Tairattanchai.

Malaysia Masters 2016

  • Two-time World Championship bronze-medallist, India’s PV Slndhu clinched the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold title by defeating Scotland’s Kristy Gilmour in the final on January 24, 2016.
  • This was her 2nd Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold title, having won it in 2013 as well. It was overall fifth career Grand Prix Gold title and first title of the season 2016. She also completed a hattrick at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold in November, 2015.

4th Hockey India League

  • The Jaypee Punjab Warriors struck gold and became third-time lucky on February 21, 2016 as they clinched their Hockey India League (HIL) title in the fourth edition of the six-team tournament at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium at Ranchi.
    The unique feature of the tournament was that each field goal counted for two. Waveriders’ defender and penalty comer expert Rupinder Pal Singh was named the player of the tournament.

India Open Snooker Championship

  • Former National 6Reds runner-up Rahul Sachdev clinched his maiden title by winning the first All India Open Invitational Snooker Championship at Aurangabad, Maharshtra on February 29, 2016.
  • In the. final, Rahul defeated current national 6Reds no.4 Pushpender Singh of Railways with a score of 5-3. All India Open Invitational Snooker Championship 2016 was organised by Billiards and Snooker Association of Aurangabad.
