How did you come across the Lonnie Frisbee story?

Upon my reflection, I divulge that my upbringing was cultivated in the Pentecostal denomination, which inundated me with an array of titanic personalities. When my inquisition led me to explore the subject of resurgences and the Jesus Movement, I was enthralled by the legend that was Lonnie.

Initially, I was captivated by the myths of his life. However, as I endeavored to expound on his existence, I discovered that he was a mere mortal with a plethora of challenges. To comprehend his life story, I had to confront his reality, which was a formidable task, as some of his struggles were beyond my scope of comprehension.

In order to fill in the gaps, I sought advice from others and asked them to explain, “What are the implications of being sexually assaulted as an eight-year-old?” Through this process, I stretched myself beyond my limits. Although I lack a background in psychology, I am now capable of appreciating the hardships that Lonnie faced in his life.

Lonnie’S Wife Name Was Connie Frisbee. Lonnie’s unofficial evangelism career started with a soul-searching LSD acid trip during a regular “turn on, tune in, drop out” session of getting high.

When Lonnie was high, he would often read the Bible. When I went on a pilgrimage with some friends to Tahquitz Canyon near Palm Springs, I didn’t look for meaning in mysticism and the occult.

Lonnie started reading the Gospel of John to the group. He led them to Tahquitz Falls, where they were all baptized.

Mr. Frisbee was his father, and Jeannette Graham was his mother. We don’t know anything about Lonnie’s siblings, and there is nothing on the Internet about them either.

Frisbee was very interested in cooking and the arts. He won awards for his paintings and even danced on Casey Kasem’s TV show Shebang in the mid-1960s. He had a “bohemian” side and ran away from home a lot.

As a teen, he got into drugs as part of his spiritual quest, and when he was 15, he went into the gay underground scene in Laguna Beach with a friend. He didn’t learn much in high school, so he could barely read and write. At age 18, he joined thousands of flower children and hippies in San Francisco during the Summer of Love in 1967. He said that he was a naked vegetarian hippie.

Lonnie Frisbee: The Sad Story of a Hippie Preacher

On June 6, 1949, Lonnie Frisbee was born. He would have been 72 on Sunday if he had lived.3

Most people have never heard of Lonnie Frisbee, but he could be one of the most important people in the evangelical movement today. He’s the one who put the “freak” in “Jesus Freak,” there’s no doubt about that.

And his life shows both the best and worst of evangelicalism. And the way evangelical leaders treated him shows a pattern of hiding the truth that continues to this day. But to understand that, it helps to know a little bit about his life.

Lonnie Frisbee was the perfect baby boomer. He was born in 1949 and was a full-fledged hippie in the 1960s. He was in San Francisco during the famous “Summer of Love” in 1967. Even then, at age 18, he was a fascinating figure, winning awards for his paintings and becoming known in the “gay underground” for his dancing, bohemian ways, and heavy drug use.

He said that he was a “vegetarian nudist hippie.” His lack of a place to call home may have come from a dark childhood. He was raped when he was eight, often ran away from home as a child, and was in and out of school so much that he barely learned to read or write.
